One of the better interviews with Keith Richards. Pretty persistent questioning, has KR on the defensive on some areas. Thanks for the link!

Beatles Sgt. Peppers album is the first for me. I was young kid in the early 70s just getting into rock music. I discovered it one Saturday afternoon. It began my fascination with Beatles and Stones and all 60s & 70s rock.

Love this stuff! The first 25 minutes are a little shaky and isn't too interesting. Then Bill Wyman pops up playing ping pong - - too funny!

This and BV's point are well taken. I'm still new to the blog and still don't contribute much, but when I do I follow the quality vs. quantity deal.

I thought it was Jumping Jack Flash single, followed by the later Beggar's Banquet album? Really, they were a 'rock band' as you put it. They changed their sound a bit is all.

Quotelem motlow Quotegtrplyr It bummed me out to see all the negative comments about Swift here. Most had nothing to do with her performance, but were just slamming her for being popular. I'm not sure how she is "worse" than Katy Perry or Lady Gaga. In fact, she writes more of her own material and plays more instruments than either of the other two. Not to mention she's at least 5 years

Quotesonomastone Quotestraycatdevil The Stones and The Who are pretty hard to beat for live rock. To me part of what makes a Stones concert great is the uncertainty - you could be about to witness sheer brilliance and excitement or a train wreck at any moment. It creates tension and excitement, all important parts of a rock and roll show. I have no doubt the Beatles would be super rehearsed ju

All the way through? Actually I like to listen to 'Out of our Heads' and 'Aftermath' back to back, to see the development from r & b cover band to early sixties British pop songwriters (Jagger-Richards, that is). Also interesting to listen straight through and back to back the 'Let it Bleed' and 'Sticky Fingers' albums (shows the growth of guitarist Mick Taylor).

Quotesaltoftheearth Quote24FPS Mick Taylor basically walked away a few years later to save his own life. It was up to Taylor to make a positive thing out of that departure and he was unable to. Yes, mainly because he was unable to display his extraordinary guitar skills without the counterparts of his ingenious bandmates in the Rolling Stones. If you listen to the live recordings especially fro

The critics praised the album when it came out - mainly. The fans enjoy many of the songs on it, and it usually is topping the list of "latter day Stones-albums". UNDERCOVER does have a re

Quoteseitan Quotelatebloomer They won't play a Doors song, but Mick maybe will say something about Ray. They could play Little Red Rooster - and say something about Ray, cause The Doors used to play the same song. Yeah, but the Stones did that cover before the Doors were even formed. I do agree, though, that a brief mention in memory of Ray's passing prior to performing 'Little Red Rooster

Quotestonehearted QuoteJMARKO Quotestonehearted Emotional Rescue was the right album at the right time. It exemplifies the trends and contemporary sounds they were trying to incorporate at the time. The Some Girls extra tracks are outtakes for a reason. They are more typical of a trend-free approach and could just as easily have been recorded and released earlier in the decade, and as far as a

Quotewindmelody The Doors were one of the greatest bands ever, often they were reduced to their lead singer. So: Deep respct to Ray Manzarek, who was a great part of the Doors' magic. He certainly was...I think his keyboard playing defined the Doors sound (especially on the famous tracks like 'Light My Fire').

Well, it may be the case. But I think somewhere along the line both Mick & Keith dug down deep somewhere and got it together enough to do the tour (recognizing somehow that whatever went down between themselves wasn't enough to stop a tour)...or something like that.

QuoteMunichhilton Quotestonehearted not until the last minute and not without a profuse apology from Keith--which he now brags that he lied about. it ain't bragging if its true... I just can't buy into the idea that it 'almost didn't happen.' I think there's way too much money at stake...although maybe I'm too cynical to believe any rift would stand between making a lot of money.

QuoteBliss That article is from early last year, and at the end of it quotes an unnamed source who claims a tour will never happen because of the rift between Mick & Keith. So 2013 proved that wrong, and thus the whole hypothesis of the article is wrong.

I know I've become a "catalog fan" (someone who knows all the records by now, the singles, etc) over the years, but I am certainly not limited to the Rolling Stones.
