Look, people ask him questions and he answers them. Then they make it the headline, or the most prominent part of the article. It's not really "bleating", or complaining. I'm sure he is genuinely happy with his life, but every single time he speaks to the media, they'll ask him about the "leaving the Stones" topic. So he comes across as though he's going on about it, when in f

I thought that Mick Hucknall was an excellent choice to tour with the Faces. Not only does he have the vocal range, but also the passion, attitude and genuine enthusiasm for the material that Roderick can no longer muster up. I'm not sure if a Faces with Rod can possibly better that, except in audience numbers. But everyone seemed happy and relaxed onstage with the 2010 version.

Quotesonomastone They don't behave like nice people. Don't really claim to be either. It didn't start with mick Taylor is 2013, it started with Ian Stewart in 1963. Anyone who claims to be surprised might have forgotten some of the history. Look at how mick and Keith treat one another! I don't really care what they are like as people though I enjoy their music and their concerts. Yes - look, it

I'm not a bigger fan of one Stones "era" any more than another, but it is certainly a shame that Mick Taylor is not playing on more than one song. This seems an example of the Stones' "culture", where they do things in a half-assed way, not working out or discussing things in detail. They seem too lazy to properly rehearse a way to play a few songs with three guitars (ie: crea

His playing (and singing!) of Statesboro Blues in the original post is just brilliant - if you were in the Rolling Stones and heard him play the blues like that, you'd immediately want him to play with your band, too! Unfortunately, the "lads" don't make much of that sort of music anymore, so the arrangements overall will be a bit more middle of the road - including Chuck's parts. But h

While Ronnie definitely seems like the kind of guy who couldn't cope with any relationship more demanding than "mates", it's clear from reading this that Jo wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, either... It's your typical "rock star / model", or "sportsman / model" marriage - there isn't going to be a whole lot of brain activity going on between them. The "mode

As Tate says, his recent musical excursions are what Robert Plant truly wants to pursue, and very good they've been, too. I think he has been right all along in not pushing for a reunion. And I agree with RollingFreak in that the one-off concert was a fine ending. Things would wind up being disappointing if "Zep" went out and did a proper tour, at their age. I think the Page & P

I thought that solo album "Psycho's Path" was interesting - hit and miss, but interesting at least. Because it sounds like no other "product" anyone's ever released, and almost completely self-played. About half of it (and most of the lyric content) is still very good to me, but there are some pretty dodgy sound choices on there, ha ha! Good on him for just going ahead and doi

Like anyone in the public eye who is erudite, expressive and doesn't conform to a stereotype, he is often criticised by people far less intelligent and interesting than himself. But the marvellous thing is that he's living a great life, doing just what he wants, how he wants it. He's never had the slightest interest in what the embittered dumbasses of the world think of him. So yes, I am a fan

I must second 71Tele's post - CYHMK on this release is really bland, the improv section in particular finds Ron and Keith completely uninspired. One of the more embarrassing examples of the Stones' "mighty guitar interplay". So edits or not, the song, as performed, is certainly a shadow of its former glory - much like Rocks Off. Luckily, those few dates last year found them properly con

Wow, Stu is nice and high up in the mix here, unlike on the Checkerboard DVD and other Stones-related releases! Probably one of the best sources to really get a clear idea of his feel within a rock n' roll band framework...

I am joining latebloomer and treacle's camp on these songs! New Faces in particular is an inspired, strong melody, its the arrangement is sparse and tasty. It also has lyrics that very much tell a story, suit the mood of the music, and unlike some other latter-era tracks, sound unforced, genuine and creative. It's one of Mick Jaggers most successfully realised lyrics over the past 30 years, where

Well, the average radio or whatever listener wouldn't know it, so for non-Stones fans it definitely was not a hit. I guess the last thing that was present in that way was "Harlem Shuffle"?

As someone pointed out earlier, it's the Rolling Stones that changed in the '80's (like many artists of their vintage), as opposed to the ridiculous notion that a touring musician watered down their sound. Dirty Work, Steel Wheels - that's the sound people are criticising in essence, and it has nothing to do with Leavell. The keyboard arrangements of the '80's and '90's were often cheesy becau

Funny, he sounded good to me on the video. Sure, too loud, but what he played was great. Didn't sound like random screeching to me. Plus, he galvanised the two guitar players into action, which may even be the real reason he was there. Perhaps MJ "planted" him for that purpose, and if so, it worked.

Excellent solo from Chuck Leavell on Honky Tonk Women - nothing "plinky plonky" about it, just pure rhythm and blues!

Wow, that's really awesome, thanks for uploading that! I've never really listened to Jeff Beck, but he certainly makes a great contribution here, what a "wizard"! His energy also lifts the band right up. I'm the first to criticise Ronaldo and Keith for being lazy and uncaring, but their playing / interaction here is just great. And I think Keith's portion definitely shows that he's got

I also share whitem8's positive view of Mean Disposition. I only had the cassette of Voodoo Lounge originally, and when I first heard the CD years later, I was pleasantly surprised with this track! I immediately thought that this is a great showcase for the oft-mentioned "art of weaving" between Ronaldo and Keith, and the unique interplay of the band - as others have said, the jam at th

Looking on the bright side, that is the most predictable and boring Stones set-list of all time, so no-one missed out on much! At least they were good enough to play a slightly more varied set of songs for some of their proper fans last week...

Great album and great track! I think that more than just reggae, the inspiration behind the accent and Caribbean feel may also originate in some of Chuck Berry's character songs - "Havana Moon" or "Anthony Boy", where he "inhabits" the same (slightly dodgy I guess, but fun) ethnic persona....

They're signing the 16 million pound contract, that's why a) they're choosing to remain sober, and b) they're not using an autopen for the job. Or maybe Keith is bidding for some items at Ron's auction.

As hilarious as it is, I'm sure it wasn't Mick Taylor's, or even Waters' idea. The guy must've just "invited himself" for a little guest spot before the gig, and they were probably too polite to say no outright to him. So once he materialised, they just laughed along and shrugged their shoulders it seems. Ben Waters' voice doesn't sound too inspiring on his numbers, but this impersonato

When I heard about this, it seemed to me to be a situation just as he describes it in the article. I think it's a shame that the world's ingrained distrust of Mike Love, and a story-hungry press turned it all into this nonsense "firing Brian Wilson" debacle. His version of the story makes complete sense, what with the expanding of the anniversary tour over time. The "controvers

QuoteRedhotcarpet About the Neville thing. I don know abou this. Keith aint bad but Am I the only one who hears a boring production with Keith doing some easy fills here and there? Not bad but not exciting at all. Sounds like some retirement home - nothing wrong with age, just doesnt do it for me. Not meant as an insult if it moves someone else. There is probably an element of that to the album
