QuoteMunichhilton Drums were a bit loud...? Listen, Mick is currently steering the ship through the icebergs... Have you HEARD the drums on Doom & Gloom? Haha, yes. Mick also said in '81 or '82, regarding Michael Jackson selling concert tix for over $20, "you just don't DO that" :-) But the drums on the Talk is Cheap rockers are in your face, imo. Doesn't really detract, I j

Will always love it. But I agree with Jagger's assessment when asked: "I thought the drums were a bit loud. Alot of it was NICE" (emphasis Mick's). I guess Keith wanted a changup from Charlie's sound, which is fine, but they are mixed way up in general. Minor complaint.

QuoteMILKYWAY Which do you find more frivolous/unnecessary: Keith's singing on a song or two per album or Mick Jagger's guitar playing? Neither. I mean, sometimes, but rarely is it frivolous. I was initially annoyed when he played live on "sad sad sad", but it really does fill out the sound to make it more like the studio version, which is what they were aiming for. Same with &quo

You summed it up pretty well. But after seeing live clips of Taylor solo, sweet though it is, I don't know why anyone would have expected the "glory of '73". He's doing a better than expected job (for me), and should be utilized a bit more. But when he's playing, he ups the ante. Rambler has been stellar through the last decade, but he does lift it higher. Ronnie does the first sol

Quoteflacnvinyl James Taylor, Judy Collins, Kris Kristofferson, Stevie Nicks, Jon Bon Jovi, Melissa Etheridge, Ryan Adams... Am I the only one who doesn't care about any of these musicians or their opinions?? Most of that batch, no. But I give some weight to Kristofferson. Even James Taylor. I give their remarks weight because they know songwriting. And of course Neil Young is a given. I

QuoteBärs MT seems to have trouble playing tight. He's often in front of the beat. I noticed this on the first night at O2, on Rambler. Way in front. Totally corrected it the second night, as if he realized it. Haven't listened to the recent versions, but someone should tell him if it's the case.

Quotesabata You can hear the MT's sound very well Holy hell, yes you can. I assume it wasn't that loud in the arena, cuz he's cuttin' through. And he's noodling high speed.

Maybe he's underrated by Keith Richards, who told Rolling Stone Mag in like '89 that his idea of torture was being locked in a room with a singing Daltry. Funny, but odd to say. Anyway, he's always been considered a great vocalist, I'm not sure you could call him underrated.

QuoteDoomandGloom QuoteTonyz Can't confirm it, but it looks like CYHMK wit MT!!! All hail night 2!! They just did that last week.. How predictable... Yeah, why would people in Chicago want to see that when they already did it in LA? Apologies if you were being sarcastic.

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 Way too many folks here completely ignore the albums before Banquet. I am not a judge here, but I honestly can not understand how someone can see himself as a big hard Stonesfreak, and not be aware of the early stuff. Undercover - great album btw. But alot of that early stuff had a good deal of filler, hard to dig it all from start to finish, imo. Not a criticism r

QuoteShug Neil Young doesn't cater to his audience, he plays what he wants for whatever reasons and people still go see his shows because they know no matter what he plays, he's going to do it passionately. It can be done. This has come up in other threads, sorry for repeating, but Neil, Bob and Paul are solo acts. They have the luxury of being able to tell the band what they're going to play

Quoteuhbuhgullayew With The Stones, you get a band. With McCartney, you get one guy with a hired band. Large difference. Exactly. Same applies to Dylan. The artist decides what he wants his hired guns to play, and they do it. Different animal altogether.

Quotegripweed WHERE the Heck did you hear this ??? MT has stage fright... -Gripweed Since the Mayall days. He's spoken about it openly. He attended a Stones gig in the last decade (don't remember the year, others here can verify) and had an invitation to play, but backed out.

Quoteheadly123 Check your damn egos at the door and stop worrying abut hurting Ronnie's feelings. Let the man play. Many here say that band ego is involved in MT only playing on two songs. Could be. But MT has well-documented stage fright issues. It could very well be that they're not going to trod him out there for more songs unless they're sure he's in his comfort zone. But "hurtin

Quotecrumbling_mice Best place to have started would have been on a Taylor V Wood thread, that would have eased you in a little better than an opening statement loaded with common sense and truisms...we struggle with both concepts. You are more than welcome, grab a chair, pour a drink and enjoy the ride. Now THAT is the way to welcome a newcomer!

Quotededospegajosos LIS is a new classic that should be played often It is a great song, but it always dragged live on the VL tour, they just couldn't replicate it or build on it. The opening low vocal is hard to do live, as is the slow guitar groove. I suppose if they REALLY put their minds to it, it could be done. But at what cost?!

QuoteMore Hot Rocks I never heard Blondies guitar with the Stones. I could never hear him live or on bootlegs. It's like he was never plugged in. That's his job, just fatten up the sound without really being heard. He never played "licks", although on numbers like "Streets of Love" that require more of a wall of sound, he was probably higher in the mix. I can understand us

QuoteJimNitro please let Mick Taylor back in the band and RECORD a new CD with him At the very least, the reasons he left no longer exist. In fact, one could argue that this new gig of his has put him back in reasonably good health! While I would be very excited about the new CD you wish for, I'm not holding my breath. But who the hell knows with them these days? I always knew that Keith wo

Nice pics! OK, regarding Sway, good job guys, but slow that sucker down a bit. Sounds like Stray Cat Blues (not that there's anything wrong with that). When they did Sway in '03, the new tempo sort of made sense but with three guitars there now, that "bounce" makes the vocal rushed, as well as Taylor's solo.

QuoteGRNRBITW i think everybody should go to see as many of these shows as his/her budget can allow. the stones won't be around forever and what is money for but to buy some cherished memories? the stones are clearly playing at a level that has never even been contemplated heretofore. and the inclusion of mick taylor on now four songs (and counting) is but a mere cherry on top. i don't see the d
