hello friend. You want a reassessment? Well, here's mine from a while ago: Always interesting to see this topic rear its head here every now and again. I'm with you - it's a great album to listen to!

QuoteMel Belli Took me three tries, but I got a pair of $85s in the pit. How do you know they're in the pit? I thought you didn't know the location until you showed up. I live in the DC area and unfortunately got caught up in a meeting that ran past 10. I was shut out of the $85.00 tix. I'll be there, but don't know quite yet how much I'll pay. I'm betting I'll score the 85 tix at some poin

QuoteJumpinJackOLantern Quoteseitan Does this answer the questions of this thread: Mick Jagger And The New Stones: - Let's suck Lets ride on the Stones wave and make crap. A terrific song with a great message! It's one that should be played in all schools today. Gave me goosebumps. Thanks for posting, I had forgotten what a great song it was. Quoterobertfraser I love the stones. But the sound of the stones on record to me is 64 through to 76, although i still enjoy and listen to stuff after that. Some girls however always seemed a curse to me, the huge success built on a record that was indeed back to basics that they have tried to capture ever since. It's hard for me to comprend that the same band that made sticky fingers/exile co

Quotelatebloomer Money and time BV, those elusive twin goals. Ah well, we can't take it with us, so I'll scrounge the money up and find the time. Life's too short to leave out the fun. We can't take it with us, but we can give it to our children...I'm at the age where I have to think about things in those terms. I could have spent about $700.00 to go to Newark and see the show...but sometimes

Feel silly replying to my own message, but I am reading that a number of songs were EDITED? WTF? If that's the case, I don't care about the sound - I want no part of this. Comments? Clarifications? Very appreciated in advance! Thanks

I haven't bothered with GRRR for all the obvious reasons. However, listening to JJF and a few others, I realized that all told the sound quality was "eh." So my question simply is, is the sound quality significantly enhanced throughout GRRR? If so, I'll get it. It would be nice to have really high quality recordings of all those tunes. Even if it's just somewhat better, it's probably wo

QuoteEdward Twining Backstreet Girl represents the Stones at their peak (especially for ballads). I know in a sense the period 1966-67 was rather muddled - the Stones jumping on the bandwagon of what was popular at the time instead of following their own instincts but if there is one aspect that i missed of the Stones when they got back on track it was this. The fact that this song really does

Quotesuperrevvy ELEPHANT TRUMPS GORILLA here's the real elephant in the room, stones fans KR: "Once the juggernaut starts rolling, it ain't gonna stop. An extra gig here, a place we never played there, things go on." Well, sorry, it did not go on, it did stop. Of all the "many" offers supposedly under consideration, either extending 50 and Counting into the ne

This is going to sound crazy and I know people will roll their eyes, but I'm going to say it anyway. one thing that really comes out in this is JUST HOW GREAT MICK JAGGER IS. The way in Shine a Light the way he could just open his mouth and nail the opening with such force, such power, such emotion. The energy in Live With Me The laid back, but still intense, execution of Sweet Virginia.

Watching/Listening to it now for first time. This is beyond awesome. This has got to be released. Or I've got to get a copy. Help! I agree with the comments that this is the essence of why the Stones are great.

Quotecolonial I can honestly see The Stones performing as a band and still be around for a good 10 years or more and when that day comes they're be going out on top. that kind of begs the question, though, of WHY they would do that. Why not really go out on top? Get 2013 done with, perhaps a final really, really good studio album as a send off, and take well deserved bows. What's wrong

Quotejamesfdouglas Seriously, you guys all know how much of a cynical $%&*@ I can be the majority of the time. Who's in for some kind of a petition to get a bluray/HD download version of this??? This was FILMED, NOT videotaped, so it's technically possible that we could get a pristine version of this! IF THE DEMAND WAS THERE. The thought of that excites me a lot, which is totally #$

well, I of course am on record as supporting the album big time: But in the context of this discussion, which is fascinating to me, I'll throw in my two cents, which is that we look at DW in context of the times and the overall career of the stones and ask, why did this get made? It seems logical, looking back, that this wasn't the right time for a stones album. HOWEVER, go back to the

That's exactly right. I don't see the point of a mediocre album. They've given us 50 years, anything at this point is a bonus. If it's going to be mediocre, don't bother. now, if they challenge themselves a bit - for example, bring in Jack Black to produce, strip it down, write the songs together and not just by emails -then yeah, that could be good.
