To get a good snapshot of unreleased/alternative versions yo(c'd need a few releases. But for the era you're interested in I'd recommend Acetates Contains two versions of Criss Cross plus other alternative mixes from GHS and It's Only rock n roll) and Static in the Attic focussing on Black and Blue, Some girls and emotional Rescue. The problem seems to be in the original FLACs when playing them in FlAC format in iTunes via Fluke. I a;so downloaded Hampton '81 at the same time and am listening to it at the moment, so far no problems (am on track 10) Not tried VLC...is this a better option? Also no problems with Brussels!!

Having just managed to get the FLAC files to play in iTunes (via a programme called Fluke...very user-friendly) some of the tracks seem to jump....for example Gimme Shelter at about 2:21 minutes into it. Anyone else had problems?
