it's the digitally extracted sound (DES) that worries me, for some reason I think there must be a sort of "trickery" with DES, for how on earth can a computer program filter so many specific sounds from one mono load of combined sounds? The backing vocals - for instance - sound totally strange, no Keith, no Brian, as if a new person is singing. Somewhere deep in my mind there

a YouTube friend of mine who I know for many years finally found out that extracting stereo from mono INDEED is possible. Here is one of his many DES Rolling Stones songs: a very well done "Blue Turns To Grey": "Blue Turns To Grey" on YouTube

the tambourine in the soundcloud example sounds terrible, very fake and artificial, even distorted, and that's what you get with these kinds of sound editing: it is just nothing. worthless. March 2021: there are - I found out later on - some people who really are quite good in extracting stereo from mono. Here is an example of a well done DES version of "Surprise Surprise": Surp

OzheavyThrobber: you canNOT, maybe you think so, but you truly CANNOT!!! come on man, give me a break, for decades people are begging record publishers for publishing stereo tapes of the Rolling Stones, and then you claim you can do that from mono recordings? well IF you can, proove that, and make this mono one stereo for us: "Sad Day" by The Rolling Stones I Am Waiting...

assumming it was added, I was not puzzled... now I really am!!! (I think it is done by filtering out the specific tambourine tones, for it sounds quite artificial - but of course I may be totally wrong)

Hurristone: the link to SOUNDCLOUD.COM is a link to the mono song, with tambourine added... the tambourine is not original, these kind of "stereo" mixes are nice, and show how it could have sounded if the Stones had published the song in stereo, but still... they are fake, alas...

I have asked "Monotostereoking" on Youtube about it, I will inform you as soon as I get an answer. Alas, I got no answer. Even worse: the video is taken off of his channel.

he has access to studio tapes, this is true stereo, and he did it on a computer

I guess this man had access to the original studio tapes of the violins part, so that's why I think this is true stereo. Why I think so? Well, the rest of the song is mono, only the violins are stereo. With digital extracting software one would have changed the entire song into stereo. The other thing is: one can separate the violins sound from a mono recording, but one can't separate

Just for the record, might anyone be interested, here is a link to a true stereo version of "As Tears Go By" (the violins part that is). The song starts with Mick & Keith centered, at 0:56 the strings arrive at the right , at 1:28 FFRR sound is in, with different strings joining in at the left. True stereo violins. video: Enjoy!

real nice stereo edit by a channel I discovered on Youtube. It is Marianne Faithfull's version, along with Andrew Loog Oldham's instrumental version. Real nicely done. It is a Canadian guy, hats off!

there's not much fake about this song, the cd is in the video, as well as the sleeve. Anyone who knows who's singing? I now presume it IS keith Richards that plays guitar, though "Keith R." may refer to someone else, otherwise his full name would have been used. I really have no clue.

from the cd "Connection 1963-66" this is "I wanna be your man" by "the railroaders with keith r." as stated on the back of the cd. Can anyone give any info about the singer, the drummer, the bass player? And: is the guitar solo part by Keith Richards, or does he only play the guitar accompaniment? if this Youtube link is dead, check this VIMEO link

o.k. Mathijs, so it's the Andrew Loog Oldham orchestra. I didn't expect that! Ironbelly: I searched on Soulseek, which results in The Rail Roaders with Ian Stewart, a song called Stu Ball '66 and also a "Stu Ball '66" with Keith Richards All Andrew Loog Oldham orchestra stuff. Maybe later "Memphis" will turn up. A search with Rail Roaders with Goog
