Just got 2 $85 tix for the 20th at the Staples. Really easy site to use. The tix also say GA PIT 5! If that turns out to be true, then I'll be over the moon! Can't wait! Forum: Tell Me

When rock journalist Al Aronowitz—who famously introduced the Beatles to Bob Dylan—died in 2005, an obituary said he was working on a book titled MICK AND MILES about Mick Jagger and Miles Davis. The book was apparently unfinished and never published.
Does anyone know the intended contents of this book?? I'm intrigued.

Rock is about the song, jazz is about waiting your turn to show off at your instrument.
You obviously haven't listened enough to either genre. Forum: Tell Me
I just posted two torrents of different audience recordings over at hunger city. One is an lp rip, and is an incomplete recording ("A FREE CONCERT held in memory of BRIAN JONES", No label); and the other is a CD of a longer recording ("In The Park", Scorpio SCRO 001). Both are of acceptable quality. Forum: Buy/Sell/Trade

I'm enjoying your posts, but have also been following a few of the problems you seem to be having with the files. I also use a Mac exclusively, and have found this great little app to be essential for creating flacs from aiff files, as well as a few other things.

Did I miss something? When did 'Can't You Hear Me Knocking' occur? All I got in Los Angeles was a few, very short snippets of Mick at the beginning, and then only a few tantalizing licks when they came back from commercials.
I didn't see CYHMK either. They must have done a big nasty edit for the west coast. Forum: Tell Me

Basically, it displays the phase differences between the signals in each channel that Blakeeik mentions. I use LogicPro software for the Mac for audio recording and processing, and it has one of these meters. Interesting to see what's going on. Maybe other audio processing packages also have them. So what ever happened to "Soul Survivor"? When I first heard this on Exile (way back in when), I thought it was a great way to end the album, and was obvious for a great live song. But it's never been played AFAIK. Guess it just never worked out as a live arrangement. Forum: Tell Me
The Clear Spot album was my intro to CB back in the early 70s. Still one of my favorites, and definitely worth a listen for some great tracks. Forum: Tell Me

Amused/Erik,
These are the best quality versions I've heard. There's more bottom and the whole damn thing sounds less compressed. Thanks again.
Glad you like the set. I did a lot of listening and a bit of tweaking to put it together, but I think it turned out OK. Forum: Buy/Sell/Trade

NB only buy a Soft Machine record if Robert Wyatt is part of the line-up, they peaked quickly and deteriorated at leisure
Since the RW period was the only time there were vocals, then it's true that you'd have to go for 1967-71 with regard to "songs". But it's a bit of an oversimplification as far the quality of SM output is concerned. There's plenty of stuff 1972 Forum: Tell Me
Flac compresses whatever you feed into it. If it's Mp3 quality, it compresses at Mp3 quality; if it's 24/96 hi res audio, it compresses that. For this type of editing etc. it really is best to work with at least 16/44 audio files--or at least the highest res files that are available. Forum: Buy/Sell/Trade
Marko, Do you mean you go MP3>wav>remaster>Flac? Surely it would be better to remaster the lossless files to retain as much audio quality as possible. Not knocking--Just wondering. Forum: Buy/Sell/Trade
Just for the record, here are my original notes on how I put this all together. Watchit/gottogo99 should also get credit for first circulating some of the new sources.
