Does anyone know how the releases have sold so far in relation to each other? I'm just guessing, but I would have thought that shows from the 'Golden Era' would sell better to the general public and the hardcore fans. No disrespect intended to Stones performances post '89, but I would think a show from '69 or '72 would be perceived by the music press & general media as more exciting &

QuoteSilver Dagger The Pretty Things - SF Sorrow. Psychedelic beyond belief. It'll take you out to where the buses don't run. But be careful, things could get a little freaky on the way. Made the journey many times but always got home OK. Another vote for this! If it gets too freaky, fire up their follow-up album, Parachute, which is equally brilliant. A sadly neglected band...

It's a great irony that 'skinhead' became shorthand for 'racist' as the original skinhead / suedehead scene was directly influenced by Jamaica. It was mostly white working class boys & girls who had started going to ska clubs and Jamaican drinking clubs (they stayed open all night and you could get weed and amphetamine pills, which meant you could dance all night). They started to cop

Terrible idea; thankfully, I don't think this will ever happen - I think it's just a clever way to get some pre-publicity for the film by linking it to someone who's getting a lot of attention at the moment in the US and UK...

Glad someone brought that ridiculous Barn Owl incident up - I too was accused of being one of the aliases. In fact, that was the feud that stopped me posting on this lovely board and turned me back into a lurker (until now!)

The Stones will never play this festival I think, sadly... The organiser Michael Eavis has said he's tried many times to book them, but they always want far more money than he was able to give them. Glastonbury Festival doesn't pays its performers very much at all compared to other festivals (one way they can get so many acts into one weekend); the financial incentive for the artists is t

I'm with Doxa on this one - Mick's 'wandering spirit' has left a lot of broken hearts in his wake, and Keith sounds like he's one of them. It's understandable really - you can mourn a lost friendship just as intensely as a lost relationship sometimes...

QuoteCome On Why is this intressting? I wonder if they ask on Meatloafs forum what he were eating under the 'Deadringer for bell'-era... Best album ever made is Dylans Highway 61 Revisited, and Dylan only smoked pot... It's been a while since I read a biography of him, but I'm pretty sure that Dylan was already taking heroin by the time of Highway 61, and had definitely done LSD -the lyr

Or "Yesterday's Papers"... I always thought that Mick's relationship with Chrissie Shrimpton provided the spark for a lot of those 'misogynistic' songs of the time. Didn't she write a column in a teen mag and go into great detail about their cosy domesticity together. Apparently Mick thought it was making him seem very uncool, hence the break-up and lots of songs about what a wic

I believe Eagle Rock make the "Classic Albums" documentaries - maybe this is for one of those, rather than a full-blown Exile-style re-issue? I'd be happy if it is - those docs are always enjoyable...

Personally I don't believe Mick would even spend five minutes looking at this board or any other rolling stones forum, for that matter - I always get the impression he finds talking about the band and the minutiae of it's history intensely boring... Having said that, I could well believe he gets a lawyer to give it a once-over now and then!

Their first 3 albums are all amazing. A really underrated band. Thanks for reminding me of this. Good one kingkirby. My pleasure to remind you Silver Dagger! They were a very cool band for sure with a really weird back

Am I alone in loving the Stones and also loving, funk, hip-hop and yes even dance music? heretical I know... I've yet to find a genre of music that is completely without value - there's good music in every style - just a question of finding it, or being introduced to it...
