QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteDoxa QuoteDandelionPowderman I think your problem is that you're being selective regarding my posts, Doxa. I say lots of nice things about Taylor, and MM is my favourite song mainly because of his beautiful playing. Then again, how the guitars are arranged on that tune is how I like my Stones to be. When they tended to sound more like the other bands at the time

Quotemgshorr If you were to condense an audience at a Rolling Stones arena concert down to 100 people, this is what you might notice. 2 -- Overwhelmed. Crying at the very front of the TP. (Saw this.) 8 -- Moving, Dancing, Singing along, Clapping Hands. 90 -- Zombies with smart phones. Flat footed. Occasional clap when prompted by MJ. Its a buzzkill to look around and see everyone s

QuotesanQ Mick Taylor walks on water. How many times does Mick Taylor have to walk on water to make a point? Mick Taylor has been resurrected. "In the case of the resurrection, the stone rolled away so that he could walk out....the raised Mick Taylor didn't have to have the stone rolled away, because he is transformed and can appear anywhere, at any time." In Mick Taylor we tru

QuoteJumpinJeppeFlash All of these Mick Taylor this Mick Taylor that. Without Ronnie there haven't been a Rolling Stones touring band in 2013. Be happy for that instead of insulting Ronnie with all these MT threads. Subjects like "should Ronnie step aside for MT" and others is nothing but pathetic and very insulting against Ronnie. I'm sure Mr Wood can speak up for himself if he feels

When I was a teenage, it was compulsory to get wasted before any evening entertainment. But when I see them at Hyde Park, I'll just have a little water beforehand. It'll be all eyes on stage and not worrying about needing to go to tehe toilet.

QuoteMr.D Eagle Rock is going to release the Hampton Roads DVD on its own without vinyl and the guitar pick...I think it'll be in June. Nice! btw - on the "tape issue" about Hampton. I've read that if a program is shot and mastered on film but then copied to tape for broadcast/storage, tape precludes it being remastered for an HD release. This happened with the X-Files TV show w

From what you described, it sounds like the twin capos have been used to fret a bar chord.

I'd have him play on SFTD, HTW, DF, BS, MR, SFM and maybe finish off his segment with GS. But only two songs? That would be a monumental injustice!

Quoteduke richardson QuoteFather Ted What are the chances MT will be playing the entire show, given KR's comments about having three guitars on stage? depends on if Jagger has any interest in musical risk -taking.. or if he stays to the expected Taylor songs.. I think MT would fit really well into Miss You or The Last Time, and nicely on Paint It Black .. I can definitely hear him fitt

In line with the spirit of the short touring arrangements for 2013, perhaps the Stones should do a couple of 4 track EPs phased over say 15 months rather than commit themselves to recording a 12-15 track album?

QuoteCalGonz At Glastonbury? I'd be surprised. The Isle of Wight arena is closed overnight which gave them means and opportunity to modify the stage, but at Glasto the campsite and the arena is all in the one bit so they can't block access to the Pyramid. If there's even the slightest bit of mud it'll just become an impossibility. There is a mini-arena bit down the front, but the sides are

QuoteGravityBoy QuoteErik_SnowThatcher was not Himmler, Göring, Hitler (or Chuck Leavell) To some people she was. Her trusted advisor was Keith Joseph. Big eugenics fan. Thatcher was the first to use unemployment levels as a tool to control the workers. And her heirs of all political parties have continued it. No mainstream party talks of "full employment" anymore. While Thatcher began what were quite modest economic reforms like privatising BT, she went too far and sold all the family silver. Our water and energy infrastructure is largely foreign owned, which is a national disgrace. Privatising our electricity generation and supply just made private cartels replace a public monopoly. Unfortunately her legacy must include the transformation of the British i

QuoteKirk So here is how the story goes: The truth is that I can't afford to travel to London and buy a ticket for the Hyde Park show and this is not a question of priorities, but a real life situation. No need to talk here further about this.Enough to say maybe that I live in Greece. Now take a look at what happened today. My colleague just retutrned from a trip regarding some business of the

Taylor used to deploy a nifty bit of slidework live. I listened to few tracks from a '72 boot over the weekend and he was tearing it up on ADTL. He had the ability to capture the melody and "feel" from a studio track and rework it to great effect on stage. I've often thought that the studio Stones and live Stones from that era were two different bands.

QuoteHis Majesty Ugh, looked on google for other people's questions and replies about this... seems it's common for people at concerts to piss in bottles and cups and throw them in to audience. Gross! I'll be throwing my 2 litre cola bottle of pee at the toffs in the segregated cattle pens down the front ;-)

Quotedcba Nice story Father... unfortunately, Cobain's signature didn't come out very well on my CD booklet (don't use a Bic pen on a glossy booklet!) but my friend got an excellent sig in silver marker pen on the tour dates ad he'd cut out from Melody Maker. I found the DVD of the Mayfair show on a torrent and the crowd was as "enthusiastic" as I'd remembered! Was hoping to see m

I'm no Thatcherite, but from what I've read, the UK was in a pretty poor state by 1979 and she did what she felt was necessary to bring the country out of its decline. She had "the courage of her convictions" and probably more testosterone than her all-male Cabinet!

I was fortunate to see Nirvana at the Newcastle Mayfair in Decemeber '91 on the Nevermind tour. We only found out Nirvana were playing on the morning of the show. A friend phoned the box office and was told that although the tickets had sold out weeks ago, the promoter had put a few tix behind the desk. So we got the train up to Newcastle and were, amazingly, first in the queue. We could he
