So if he had a drum machine, and short rap by Jay Z, that would be called "orignial," but in reality it would really be trend following. Quote24FPS The problem is that it lacks any originality or effort. It's a bigger throwaway than Sad, Sad, Sad, or some of the dreck on Dirty Work. One song, one decent song is all Keith had to come up with. I think it's time to admit that Keith's

Everyone has their own opinion and no one is going to please everyone. With that in mind, I think what Keith wants to do is stay true to himself. So that means producing raw, unfinished songs of a very personal nature. And yes, many people like this song and many people don't. It just boggles my mind that people who like classic stones don't like this. This is heart, balls, raw guitars and som

I like the riff on Doom and Gloom. I think he's trying too hard to be clever throughout the song which can detract the overall effect an amount of soul. Kind of an Elvis Costello trap. I like One More Shot better.

Anyone know how this song was written? Supposed to have started with the title based on Gram Parson's wife sending him flowers in the mail from the U.S. to England. Very little is said about how the song was written. Keith sings a version with the Highway men. I imagine Mick, Keith and Gram worked on this? It seems influenced in many ways by "Let it Bleed." It's kind of what "B

You had great albums like LIB, SF and Exile during that period. I don't think Beggars Banquet is all that good, but it does have three good songs.

I'm not sure what we're supposed to get over. There's many instances of inconsistency around Rolling Stone's Songwriting. In Keith's book he calls "before They Make me Run" a collaboration. On the other hand Mick Jagger has stated Keith wrote it by himself. My hypothes is that Keith gave Mick more credit on certain songs so that his book would not totally destroy the Rolling Stones

Just did a search and there seems to be many consistent references to MM starting out as an accoustic demo by Keith Richards and then Taylor worked it up from there. No one argued that point for many years. What I'd like to know is if anyone heard demo? I don'ti think any one believes this was all Mick Jagger.

That's the old story. It was an accoustic ditty by Keith that Taylor worked up with Mick Jagger in the studio. The new story from Keith's autobiography is "the whole idea of it was Mick Jagger's and the the band just showed him how to play it." I imagine it was probably a little accoustic number from keith that Taylor had a heavy hand along with Mick Jagger in working it up. With

Well I don't know what a "finer mind" means. Does it mean Mick makes better musical decisions? Does it means he makes better relationship decisions? Does Mick make better business decsions? Quotesuperrevvy I'm sure many of the social anecdotes are true and amusing The insider stuff is fiction, and approved by Mick. The description of Mick as "furious" is just to h

I like Sleepwalker, but seemed pretty well influenced by the times thus detracting from the identity of the band. On the other hand, I was pretty happy they decided not to use the "Can't Explain" riff on any of the songs. That was a welcome decision.

So the real story of Ruby Tuesday is Brian Jones had that recorder melody and Keith worked off that to come up with lyrics and the vocal melody. When you listen to the recorder melody if becomes clear that this should be credited to both Keith and Brian. While vocal melody is different, it's not all together different. The problem is Brian has never suggested he helped write Ruby Tuesday to my

Musically I think you can say Mick is kind of responsible for the stomp part of Satisfaction "when I'm driving in my car......" There isn't really melody, more of a stomp. Keith came up with the riff and the "I cant get know satisfaction" "and I try and I try and I try." Mick is filling in the verses in between. At least that's the official version. I'm sure th

I'm not sure that those judging him for doing what was the norm in his field would have been any more honest and certainly don't think they could have won the tour 7 times. Just watching how people operate in all fields including business, sports, celebrity, political, academics and even religious. It's a joke to hear people judging him. It is very remarkable he was able to win the tour 7 time

Any chance she's an envious person given the success of Keith's book compared to hers? Seems she grew closer to Keith in the years before his book, and then she seems to have turned on him a bit given the cash and awards keith received afer his book was a big success. Quoteelunsi something else about Marianne. She calls Keith a envious person.

Interesting that Keith calls Before They Make Me Run a "collaboration" in his book and also seems to give Mick credit for Moonlight Mile without giving himself the credit he and others gave him in the past. I wonder if it's a way to appease Mick or a way they strike deals with each other to correct misteps or bruised egos? Maybe an exchange like they agree Keith gets all credit for Gi
