When I saw Springsteen last November in Portland it was all "ticketless tickets" for the good seats. Basically they had people in the lower bowl head to the regular entrances of the arena, where they had a handheld little gizmo that scanned your credit card. The ticket-taker then took a peek at your ID and printed out white pater receipts that had your seat information on it, which they

I've taken my kids, ages 3 and 6, to plenty of GA summer concerts, albeit ones quite a bit smaller than Hyde Park. We have fun, but there is an expectation that the kids come before the music, and sometimes you have to make sacrifices. Even at 5, and even if they love hearing Rolling Stones songs, I doubt that a 2+ hour performance would hold their attention. And you just know that they will have

Just saw Bruce last week here in Portland, OR. Amazing show. Played over 3 hours, and about half the songs he played were audience requests. His energy level is amazing... Must see, and the Big Man's nephew did a fantastic job filling those shoes.

Tuning in from the west coast usa. Excited. Anyone remember how Jagger referred to BBC as the "Boring Broadcasting Company" or something like that during the press conference in NY that kicked off the Bigger Bang Tour?

Right On! I couldn't agree more with this... Quote24FPS Always the ageist crap. They've told you for years that the old bluesmen didn't give a crap about age, and now THEY are the old bluesmen. I've watched Bobby Blue Bland as his ravaged voice shredded as he tried to hit the old high notes. Watched Muddy Waters and then John Lee Hooker perform from chairs on the stage. Keith's fingers lost thei

Karl Denson's Tiny Universe will be performing Sticky Fingers with New Orleans funk legend Anders Osborne on a west coast mini-tour. I haven't seen this posted yet here so I thought I'd pass it along. This should be super funky, and well worth the price of admission.

6th Stone was Ian Stewart. Brian, Mick Taylor, Bill Wyman all were de facto Stones. I'd say it's between Chuck Leavell and Bobby Keys for the title of "7th Stone" vs. "8th Stone". I'd give Bobby 7th Stone designation because of his seniority. Still, being called the 8th stone would be quite an honor in my book. I know the Chuck haters may disagree, but I for one like the guy..

Thanks... Going through this track by track. "Energy" is a real standout so far... This could have been a Voodoo Lounge outtake. Also like the Melody of "Never Gonna Change". "Common Ground" has a neat roots rock reggae meets gypsy music feel to it. This is the most interesting solo Mick stuff I've heard. Glad to hear him doing something creative. The production s

I think it's a really terrific recording... It's fantastic to hear a new album that breathes some new life into this almost forgotten genre, which truly is one of the major roots of rolling stones music & rock and roll as a whole. This is one of my favorite new albums of the year thus far for sure. Hearing MJ, KR, CW & BW on WTRF is kind of a garnish to what is a very substantial, wel

Holy crap. This is amazing stuff. Drop the upright bass player, add Bobby Keys and you've got yourself one hell of a band. I wish Mick and Keith could drop their egos / stage act and perform in this kind of setting... Even without Sir Mick and Keith, I'd much rather shell out $$ to see this band at this point in time than another Las Vegas Extravaganza in a football stadium.

Oh yeah, check out the film Festival Express that came out about 7 or 8 years ago. Great footage of the Dead, Janis, Buddy Guy, the Burritos and more on their legendary train tour of Canada in 1970. Also features Sam Cutler. Some great footage that would be a good intro to the music of the Dead.

With the exception of Workingman's / American Beauty / Live Dead (Amazing Dark Star - still sends chills up my spine) and Europe 72, the best places to start if you really want to "get it" are the live shows. You can stream these for free... Going back to my high school days, here are some of the shows that I got (on cassette bootlegs) that really turned me onto the Dead) 5/8/77 s
