I read the review at the time and got the album. I played it once and knew it was a hoax. It didn't sound close to what it purported to be. I got Let It Bleed and Isaac Hayes' Hot Buttered Soul at the same time, so I had plenty of good stuff and didn't listen to it again. I still have it in my record collection.

Their back-to-back covers of Mercy Mercy and Hitchhike on OOOH are excellent versions, staying fairly close to the originals, but still making them their own. I think these, along with THSMLI, are their best soul efforts. I feel that My Girl was a weak attempt- although I believe they've covered the Temptations, with mixed results more than anyone except Chuck Berry. I'd like to hear the cover of

I love the look and sound, but I find them awkward. I agree they're probably better suited to the big and tall.

QuoteMCDDTLC They played there in 1972 - Keith called it one of the best show's of the 1972 tour. It must have been a good one for Keith to remember it!!! MLC No, they played Nashville and Knoxville in '72, but not Memphis. I saw them in Knoxville on July 7th, small arena- 6,000- killer show. I also saw them there in Nov.'65- pure pandemonium. Charlie Daniels Band and The Meters were on the bi

Although I'm a big trem fan, I'd go with the '61. It will appreciate in value more than the more recent Clapton model.

I know that it was an r'n'b cover, but I always thought "It's All Over Now" leaned a little to the country side.

I'm a certified rigger and ,after seeing the video, I don't believe the roof system was properly guy-wired to either concrete blocks or large water-filled plastic barrels as is safe and common practice. Also, when the weather service put out a notice that a storm with 40 mph winds was approaching and expected to hit the fair at 9:15 PM, the roof system should have been lowered to 10 feet off the

QuoteSleepy City Quotestraycatuk Black tele custom on Hail Hail RnR . I thought Chuck (Berry, not Leavell) had a better sound than Keith in this, particularly during the rehearsals. I think the Gibson humbuckers in Chuck's guitar are better suited for Berry's tunes than the single-coils in the Strat Keith used.

I really like "The Rolling Stones Fake Book 1963-71". It has a tab section with most of the main riffs, and then has lyrics and chords for everything they officially released- covers included- from that time period. It seems the chords are correct, so it's a great starting point for learning any of the early stuff.
