I was more interested in the amp since various folks have mentioned he was playing through a Fender, and I haven't seen the VT40 in pictures. Is the Ampeg part of the story accurate? Taylor had been playing a reissue that has been worked on by Dave Johnson: The Johnson version was reportedly given to Taylor by Area59, but appears more faded than the one on stage recently. Also

QuoteDoomandGloom Much like a Tele where KR keeps the same setting through out a tune, it's a plug in and forget guitar, you don't get hung up on the controls like with a ES 355 or LP Standard, you just play away. Many players grow away from the Standard LP as it's wide range of tones, some unusable for big power stuff, can be distracting. The "distraction" reason reminds me of a f

QuoteRedhotcarpet Horrible version from 1972. Just kidding. Taylor was gold. Listen from 3.00 something, I mean did he know what to play or what. Jagger sounds like he's saying: "Dont roll me much now?" By the time of Brussels 1st show, Taylor was playing his counterpoint at the spot where Jagger objected in '72. Did he convince Jagger and Richards it worked? Were they wrong to obje

Quotestonehearted one of the things that Mick Taylor found difficult in dealing with on his 1981 guest spot, describing their music at that point as "fast and furious". Taylor was playing with Alvin Lee at the time. Considerably faster than the Stones. No problem keeping up.

Quotelapaz62 Taylor had a little smirk on his face when he said it, he was clearly just taking the piss. That seems obvious to me considering how that audience might receive it. But there may be more to consider. After all these years, both "weavers" may regard the term "lead guitarist" as negative so Taylor--who takes a different view--may regard his quip as a way of comp

Quotebv There will be a pt. 2 tour in USA later this year. Dallas, Miami etc. This is just Pt. 1... Many thanks for the info. Are the shows in the "rumored" or "probably" category, or even less likely?

Chris Martin tweeted he was interviewing Mick Taylor on April 4 and linked to a picture with him. Did anyone record the show? Can't seem to find it in any archives. Thanks for any help.

Seems I fall into the (1) "some of us" and (2) "some hanging back" categories. While I'd be thrilled to hear him perform anything with the band, it would be great if he were on stage for the whole show and participated in pre and post-Taylor era songs.

QuoteKeefan Actually, what I wanted was to do it slow like a Lee Dorsey thing. We rocked it up. I thought it was one of Andrew Loog Oldham's worst productions." He eventually did a slow version with Alexis Korner, Frampton & Hopkins. Great version, including the Richards vocal cameo. Don't know if the take on CD is as complete as the LP though.

Wonderful to hear yet again. From You Tube, here is a partial version from far stage left. Shows a lot of the interaction between the players. And the guitars sound a bit more balanced in this mix--if you like that sort of thing

Thanks for all the videos and firsthand reviews. It's great to actually be excited by a You Tube video or two. It was a complete and thrilling surprise that Jagger included Taylor in a 12 minute song, let him have so much physical and musical space and actually interacted with Taylor on stage. Overall, glorious to see and hear. Some alternative views: 1. Why MR? I think MR was chosen to
