Hmm, I get that B.P. Fallon is a legendary mover and shaker but a frontman he ain't. That was pretty lame. I also had no idea Scott was actually out playing. He did do a show, maybe two, w/ the Stooges a few months ago. Think it was SXSW? There's footage on YouTube. Maybe he just doesn't want to play a lot? Is B.P. Fallon and the Bandits actually touring? Regardless, it's good to see Scott lo

Had that first album, with a good cover of Omaha by Moby Grape. And I love this song by Syd Straw:

Poor man's L.B. indeed, you're absolutely right. He even addresses that in the doc., saying something along the lines of once Christgau et. al. started showing up he lost interest as they weren't his band any more. Hate that mentality and I remember a couple of my friends were like that when the 'Mats signed with Sire. Why wouldn't you want your favourite band to reach as many people as possible.

I got Paul to sign my ticket stub after their show in Vancouver, 7/4/87. He signed it "Paul Homely". I always felt his solo stuff got kind of short shrift, especially Eventually, which I really love. The consensus from the critics seems to be that he's a shadow of his former self as a songwriter. I don't agree. Also, after watching the Color Me Obsessed doc. I felt miffed by the arg

Well, that is definitely the first time I've heard anyone say they hate the Replacements before. Ambivalence towards them I can see, I guess, but what's to hate? Your loss, but somehow I feel like they'd enjoy hearing that.

Yeah, Teddy, I imagine Tele is thinking of Michael Bland, who's played with Prince, I think, right? That's who Paul had last time I saw him, in '04 I guess it was.

I've got all the reissues from a few years ago, the comp. of early studio stuff, a bunch of live boots, the Rhino Handmade 2 disc set, the stand alone singles, etc. Trying to think what I might be missing.

We have tickets for the show here in Victoria in a few weeks. I have mixed feelings about going (mostly concerning giving Gene my hard-earned $) but my wife is a big fan, so there you go. Saw them in '96 down in San Jose and it was pretty fun.

Love Roky, especially the first three Elevators lps (right you are, Silver Dagger!). I bought the very cool, though very pricey, Music of the Spheres box set a couple of years ago, it's wonderful. I like a lot of solo Roky as well and the album from a couple years back with Okkervil River was pretty fine, too.

Great, thanks for the tip, Rank, will download that. Yeah, I've never heard the first show, and I understand it's pretty lo-fi, but would like to check it out anyway.

QuoteRank Stranger Thanks for the info, andrewm! If you're interested, I can upload the cd-r I've got from the Joe Maloney torrent. No need to send money to Japan! Sure, that would be awesome, thanks R.S. !

Just received an update from a Japanese vendor with this title listed as being from the Joe Maloney master recording as well as a new release of Boston 7/18/72, also claiming to be from "the Joe Maloney master recording." So, nothing new, I guess.

Hey Guys, I received an email telling me this was the next Tarantura Stones release, so there's no actual link yet. I was told it was a different source for the evening show. Erik, isn't the evening show the better sounding of the two? I've never heard the afternoon show but I was under the impression it was a really poor recording. I have the Exile release of what I assume is the evening show.

Hey Folks, Looks like Tarantura is about to release a title containing a second source for the Boston 1//29/69 evening show. Anyone familiar with a different source? I have the source that's represented on Have You Heard About... (Exile label). Just curious.

Well, since I've been looking for the old VGP release of the June 5th show(Aux Les Abattoirs) for ages with no luck (the only silver release of that show, I believe?), I'll probably consider trading in my June 4th, 6th and 7th titles and buying this, since my local record store owner pal gives me a great deal when I trade in used boots. We'll see. Silly me.

QuoteStoneage Thanks, Andrew. Those penalties! My heart almost stopped. We were lucky though, Canada was the better team. Stamkos and Subban are real class players. I liked the winning penalty: A slapshot! Yeah, I didn't watch the game but turned it on just as the Swedish player was taking that slapshot, then Eberle missed for Canada. He's usually "money" on shootouts but hit the post

QuoteDGA35 Torrie Robertson, the name sounds vaguely familiar. He was im Detroit the same time they had Probert and Kocur? Yeah, that's probably about right, except that it would seem odd to think they'd have all three of those guys at the same time. If you've got Probert and Kocur, you don't really need Torrie, if you know what I mean. Maybe he came in after Probert left. Anyway, most of his

QuoteDGA35 I cannot believe the Leafs lost! That was one of the biggest chokes in NHL history. I've never seen a team score two goals that late in the game with the goalie pulled. That was the first time in playoff history a team has won a game 7 while being down 3 goals in the third period. Full credit to the Bruins for coming back but that was a monumental collapse by the Leafs. As the say
