Well if they do I hope they have a new album to tour behind. It's been over 7 yrs. since B2B.

Fascinating read from the RS archives. He mentions "I Love Ladies" and "Worried About You" as tracks that didn't quite make the final cut. Too bad about the former because it would've fit in well on B&B. "Worried About You" would've too but I couldn't imagine TTY without it. Come to think of it "I Love Ladies" would've sounded just fine on side 2 of TTY

Those twelve songs would make for the bulk of one helluva setlist, just add five warhorses as well as Keith's two.

I still have this one and several other Spin issues around somewhere. It was a disheartening read at the time because Dirty Work was only a few months old and I was really into it that summer. My cynical teen self thought it was more a publicity grab by the band to hype up the bad blood angle between Mick and Keith to sell records and pre-hype an inevitable tour to follow. Unfortunately, despite

From 1969 The more things change... A quote from article: "Paying five, six and seven dollars for a Stones concert at the Oakland Coliseum for, say, an hour of the Stones seen a quarter of a mile away because the artists demand such outrageous fees that they can only be obtained under these circumstances, says a very bad thing to me about the artists' attitude towards the p

It's interesting to read how few of the tracks mentioned in the GHS article from Jan. '73 ended up on the album and that it was originally scheduled for a spring '73 release. Equally surprsing is to see that as late as Nov. '67 what became TSMR was thought to be coming out as a double album. I wonder what tracks were omitted when the cut it to a single disc.

I remember reading about Memory Hotel around that time, it's disappointing they never released it. I thought there were rumors that it would include Fiji Jim, Gangster's Moll and For Your Precious Love among the tracks on the release. It would be interesting to see what the proposed tracklisting would've been.

Those four songs from 40 Licks were abyssmal. "Don't Stop" is mediocre at best. "One More Shot" recalls a few different past Stones guitar riffs and melodies but IMHO it doesn't detract from the song. Keith's vocal bridge adds an interesting mid-60s pop vibe. It's a solid song and contrasts nicely with the more modern-sounding "Doom And Gloom".

Quoteryanpow No, Im afraid not young fellow. Mick interrupted Keith and then keith says "excuse me..." . Were just going to have to agree to disagree. Just watched it and Keith is definitely addressing Marlon off-camera not Mick.

Between 1:58 and 2:02 on the video of One Last Shot it appears that Mick was possibly walking towards Keith to share the mic on the vocal bridge but instead Keith walks to his mic and Mick returns to center stage. Maybe it's possible the two might share a mic during a show again, that would be awesome. Did anyone else notice this?

The fact they chose this over "Worried About You," "I Love Ladies," or even "English Rose" for inclusion on B&B. Says a lot about the state of the band at the time. Thankfully punk exploded and they gave us SG two years later.

This song is evidence of why you need the Richards/Jagger dynamic in that order. Richards devises the groove, feel, chorus and the opening verse or two and then Mick fills in the rest. It doesn't sound like a Jagger solo song nor a Richards solo outtake, it sounds like a Stones song. I will go so far as saying that cannot be argued. Best since Start Me Up? I wouldn't go so far as that but

QuoteTheBlockbuster Shattered sounds labored here but man Whip really smokes. The tempo on Whip doesn't seem any slower the studio version although the '78/'81 live versions were much faster-but they're all a bit older now and don't do as much coke.

All things being equal that's not a bad assortment of songs rehearsed. We each have our favorites not there, but, they've rocked a nice assortment of Stones' tuneage.

The band is really making the 50th about themselves, which it should be, but doing so at the expense (pun intented) of their long-time and average fans. It's not like Sir Jagger and company need to make millions more to add to their already nearly billion dollar operation. What would be cool for the band to do, and a way to show some love for their fans, is to do a select amount of shows at price

QuoteSipuncula Quotebig4 On it's own, Doom And Gloom isn't a bad song but despite having the ingredients (harp, organ, guitars, drums, defiant vocals) which has helped define the Stones sound it sounds nothing like anything they've done before. And that necessarily isn't a good thing. I don't know, because I wasn't there, but Fool to Cry or Emotional Rescue or even Miss You had to come as a sh

QuoteJustin Charlie and Keith are both on it. There is no conspiracy here. If you want straight ahead Stones with no frills...stick with the iTunes version. Old-school fans won't find much to like in the radio edit remix that's on YouTube. On the iTunes version: Keith can be heard throughout the track mainly in the left channel. You can hear his classic pull off on the bass root note a cou

I just listened to the last three Stones singles=PMS, NSP and now Doom. All I can say is that Doom combined with ABB and the four 2002 tracks show that, for better or worse, the band has attempted to redefine their sound for the digital age. There is a mechanical sound to all their 2000's material, that reflects the Pro Tools era. Although they've stripped down their sound to an almost garage

Listened to it a few times. Definitely like the itunes version better. There seems to be several guitar tracks on the song beneath the main riff, some tracks featuring just a couple of notes or a riff. Also, it sounds like there's some harmonica (maybe sampled) and organ bured in the mix (the organ you can hear clearly at the end of the song). I would say Ronnie is all over this song with Mick pl

QuoteJustin Quotestonesnow The 2 new songs are nothing to get excited about, because they are wasted on a compilation, and comps notoriously go out of print after a few years. Like Forty Licks. Can anyone name any other songs besides the 4 on Forty Licks that are unavailable due to having gone out of print? Add these 2 new GRRR! songs to the wasteland of obscurity, soon enough anyway. Total cost of the one hour evening with the Stones and associates-$1500. Everyone who attends get their choice of a wWMD (What Would Mick Do) or WWKD (What

I was personally never a big fan of Slip Kid, thats probably my least favorite on the album but still great. Imagine A Man, They Are All In Love and In A Hand Or A Face I wouldn't need to hear live.
