I went to the Hard Rock Calling festival in Hyde Park in 2011. Rod Stewart was the main act on the the last night, Sunday. It was a pretty good gig, he played all his hits - there was a great atmosphere. As mentioned, it's worth seeing him once, I'm glad I did. A pleasant surprise for me though was that Ronnie Wood was one of the special guests, he played on Maggie May and Stay With Me, and wow h

I Can't Be Satisfied and Little Red Rooster - amazing slide guitar. Most people playing slide guitar tend to all sound the same, mediocre and with predictable slide note choices. Brian however was able to make his slide playing sound original and almost un-guitar like. (Mick Taylor had a similar knack also, e.g. the slide solo on All Down The Line).

Listen to CW on Ya-Yas, Strat Cat Blues especially - the fills are amazing. On Love In Vain he adds little flutters here and there. Great stuff. He had his off moments occasionally though. And since the 80s his playing declined somewhat, became blander. But the first 20 years were great.

Watched for free in Brazil. We have cable tv and the show was on a channel called BIS Multishow. Actually the cable package is pricey so the show wasn't entirely free, but there was no extra charge to watch it. It ran from 00:00 till 03:00.

Taylor has this knack of pushing a song into a new direction, creating a new rhythm. He did it midway through Rambler. Used to do it back in the old days and still does it now. Sone great guitar playing It's like Stones have brought the best out of him as a guitarist.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteVT22 QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteVT22 QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteVT22 No, he's not. However, I've always found Taylor's playing good, but he has indeed developed a different style, playing very often without a pick. The runs are shorter, his sense of timing is different and the sound is cleaner. I've seen him live three times before, and he always played well -

One of his early 70s jumpsuits is in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, in the performing arts section. I was there a year or two ago and wanted to find the original tongue logo screen print, I couldn't find it, but I did find the jumpsuit.

Well... turn away from the screen and just listen to the audio, There's magic there still. Ok he's not quite what he once was and in a way he has set teh bar too high for himself. But he played odd bits that were still way ahead of what we've been hearing from KR an RRW in recent years. RW is on top form these days by the way, but the magic still flows from MT's fingers on occasion.

QuoteGumbootCloggeroo It was nice to see Mick T. play with The Stones again. But man oh man, he has certainly lost his magic touch. Not quite - there were at least a couple of riffs/licks that made me want to grab a guitar and try to work out what he had just played. That's what Mick T always does to me and he's still doing it

Amazing, simply amazing. Just wish I'd been there at the O2 London (as I was in 2007) alas I am currently overseas. Agree x1000 that MT is what's been lacking in the Stones' sound and what would make them brilliant again. (Not to detract from the Brian era of course).

There's a lot of comments on YouTube about the guitar playing being lousy and the riff being played too slow, but actually this is the best version of JJF I've heard since 1969 NYC! They always played it too fast since then, but here it's perfect.. great playing from both KR and RW with his nice guitar fills

Quotemidimannz When I heard it back in 1970 I loved it, that album changed my life , some kids will never experience the same rush, the same vibe, the raw excitement of dropping the needle on the vinyl you just purchased for the first time, now it's criticism, that's so much easier, isn't it? Shame ...... Same reaction with me except I was about age 13 in the early 1980s when I first heard Ya-Y

Is there an online resource or wiki that shows what musicians played on each track? I expect someone has done this but I've done a quick search and can't find any websites with the track details. I don't have the vinyl any more, I only have the iTunes download version, so don't have the multitrack insert. Maybe someone here can post the track/musicians details? Cheers

Quotelatvianinexile QuoteGumbootCloggeroo Can't Bill Wyman be bothered to dress up just a little bit for a gig? He looks like he headed straight from his couch to the stage. That's true And can't someone buy poor James McCartney a bottle of shampoo. Yes, Bill could at least have worn a suit jacket instead of that ratty old cardigan / tracksuit top. Someone buy JMcC a one way ticket to Ant

You don't need to be a citizen to stay long term in the uk. You can just apply for permanent residency after a couple of years of being in the UK, more correctly known as Permanent Leave To Remain. Citizenship (and a British passport) is optional and takes longer, 5 years +

I did a similar bodge job many years ago when I was about 18 - I used an old guitar neck and made the body out of a piece of mahogony, then fitted a pickup and other parts. The body was a Les Paul shape and I had in mind Keith's Zemaitis guitar from the 1970s, except my version was just dark wood with no inlays. It didn't play very well and the neck wasn't perfectly straight but it was a fun proj
