POST: Mick Mick Mick Mickbooooy! (Definately Vintage) MP3 + FLAC

The Rolling Stones - Definately Vintage
Los Angeles, CA, January 18, 1973
Nicaraguan Benefit Concert

This was the first of Mickboy's remaster's.

I don't think it was a great improvement, however this is an aud tape, so he didn't have alot to work with.
As for sound, there is far worst Aud recordings... I don't like to rate Sound, but I'll give it a "B"...
A nice one for your collection. Enjoy...

I'm not Enlish speaking, but if the quality of this one is as good as the spelling on the cover...

I always thought this was a pretty decent recording(especially for the time). a little heavy on MT's guitar but maybe thats where the taper was sitting! Of course Keith's lead on Route 66 comes across great and I always thought this was a smokin' take! I heard Midnight Rambler was performed here, sure wish it woulda made the LP!
Of course I may be a bit blinded on this as it was one of the first Stones boots I bought. $3 plus 50 cents shipping(!!) from Chapel Hill, NC.

I find hard to understand what Mickboy has done with this recording. It's full of pops and fridging all along.

All meat music VGP-283 is far superior.

Nice upgrade. As a poor student I bought the bootleg in less quality (but high price) 25 years ago.

All cd boots of this are sourced from the 1973 Vinyl(I guess the original tapes have never surfaced). I guess it depends on the quality of the vinyl that is used.
Mickboy doesnt use any "declicking" or other type of pc software in his remastering process as he says(and I agree) it tends to ruin the music sonically.
Maybe VG found a cleaner vinyl copy or used software(which they've been known to do)
I havent heard this version so I cant say(maybe someone can upload it?) But I would take their claim of "master recording" with a grain of salt!

I really can't tell you for sure except I know Mickboy is opposed to any pc software for remastering or remixing, whatever you want to call it). And I'm not a fan of EVERYTHING he has done. for instance I think he does lots better on the studio stuff than live but when he gets it right it great. I think his ultimate victories are the Aftermath sessions, Let It Bleed, and of course the best(IMO) Goats Head Soup.
