i have "cleaned" all the 81 tour mono soundboards,and 2 of the exellent ones(pontiac),,meaning DAC bootlegs only.

Cleaned remaster is:first round audio cd transfer,no mastering done,only if recording needs "fixing" meaning too much hiss or too bassy.
2nd round actual remastering and onto audio-cdr.Thru Harman&kardon 20 channel equalizer.

Where'd these recordings come from.

These are monitor soundboards from the 1981 tour recorded by a camera man. The audio feed would go through the sound man's monitor and he put in an aux cable to a cassette recorder and recorded the shows. These recording always have a gap in the middle of the show where the cassette tape ran out and he had to flip it over to record on the other side of the tape. It really disappointed me when one of the Chicago shows had the best version of "Time is on my Side" ended abruptly.

The 1982 shows were recorded in the same fashion but haven't circulated.

What I found most interesting about these recordings is how the tour progressed from Philadelphia 1981 where "You Can't Always Get What You Want" sounded a lot like "Love You Live" and how fast the songs were played in the beginning of the tour to what we finally heard from Hampton at the end of the tour. The beginning of the tour was a lot more like 1978 than the slower paced "Still Life" or Hampton.

There was also no Sax at the beginning of the tour of "Going to a Go-Go."

I always thought it would be cool to listen to these recordings and pick the best tracks to make a live album or 3. If you have any favorite track from the 1981 tour, I'd love to hear your picks.

Hi Marko many thanks for your work. I really enjoyed your earlier 1981 remasters.What source are you using for these latest releases.I assume it's Dog'n'Cat because of the artwork in the files.

YES dog and cat,,i cleaned these few months ago,,,because i tought these mono soundboards deserved 2nd round..

I tested first before i started actually working these again,,because i wanted to know are these going to sound overdone recordings,,but i think it actually worked rather well

I got all the Dog and Cat mono soundboards by trade when they were released 10 years ago.

Marko do you know or have you heard anything about that most/all of the 1982 shows soundboards are out there somewhere?

No nothing about 1982 soundboards,,,i guess whoever has those tapes is hoping for big amount of cash,,but they must come out at some point or something shitty happens like millard or freezer tapes.

Yes it would be a shame if they were lost forever,if they do exist.maybe someone reading this can shed some light or has any information regarding these, Anyone ?
