Question about boot, The stars in the sky they never die

Anybody knows where and when the bootleg "The stars in the sky they never die" was recorded?

It was recorded at Essen in October 1973 - the middle show of three I believe. Two songs are from the evening Hamburg show also in October of 1973 (Star Star and Heartbreaker). I believe both sources are audience tapes though the Essen portion is often mistaken for soundboard. Probably the best pre Mike Millard Stones audience tape

German LP "The Stars In The Sky They Never Lie" is the ORIGINAL release.

TAKRL "Jean-Clarke" is a COPY of the above LP with 2 additional tracks.
It exists as "Memorial" & "Mammorial" with sleeve variations.

True.

Looks like the first time Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) was taken to the stage was 4th of September 1973 in Cologne.

' Stars in the Sky ... ' has the best live version of " Happy " for my money.

Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) is right up there as well.

It is a must have album.

It was one of my first boots. Ever since, many followed. I loved it - almost SBD quality.
Does anyone know the story behind Jaggers shouting "turn the lights on George"?
Who is or was George?

Love this boot...fantastic raw clear sound.
Whoever taped this show should be commended...
Well done and well done Stones..great performance.
I also agree ita a great Happy...marginally beaten by Perth 1973 version IMO.

Forgot his name at the moment. But that was part of the show.Mick shouted it to that light guy at nearly every gig in 73.

I think the best versions of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "Angie" are here. Arguably, "Angie" from King Biscuit Flower Hour (Brussels Affair) could be the best.

One great thing about Stars in the Sky is that it doesn't duplicate The King Biscuit material.

If you like this then check out Boss Hawg's "Missing Links" which also doesn't duplicate the King Biscuit material (in the Stones Vault).

O! How times have changed! Kinderen, in the early 1970s we were so stoned that flipping the record over took two hours! Hah!

Actually you have it backwards. "Jean-Clarke" on the TAKRL (US) label is the original release. "The Stars" on the Caution (German) label is a copy dubbed from the TAKRL vinyl. Caution boosted the bass which is lacking on the TAKRL version, and deleted the "bonus tracks."

I have a Stones fanzine dated april/may 1974 with a review about "stars" and the same fanzine made a review of "jean-clarke" 6 (six) month later, stating "jean-clarke" was a copy of "stars".
Maybe you are right (?). So if you have more informations about these LP's, I'd be grateful.

I think as well that the Caution-label was the original release - TAKRL tried to make it more interesting with the inclusion of Virginia and the single-version of All Down The Line when they copied it.

What I've heard (true or not) and what I already wrote in another thread years ago - the master-tapes were given to the Caution-bootleggers and they were never returned and ended up int he dustbin. This is beyond my imagination cause they could have easyly done another release (vol.2) with such quality recordings. But maybe they were caught in the act? I only have two Caution-LPs and it seems they didn't exist for too long.

Silkcut, the 2nd "Caution" you're talking about must be "Brown Sugar & White Snow" ?

It was released in 1982, 8 years later than "Stars". Is it really the same label, he same guys after 8 years without any other "Caution" release ?

"Stars" was re-released in 1981, with a different back cover, and different matrix numbers.
AS.TS. 197810 // AS.TS. 197811 - 1974 release
AS TS 197810-A // AS TS 197810-B - 1981 release

complicated ...

No, the second Caution out of the same period I have is from Janis (I guess), not a Stones. I didn't even count Brown Sugar White Snow - that was a classical re-use of an old (and gone) label ;-)

I think I'll go with you Silkcut1978_ and LiveAtHydepark here.

Sometime age I also came across the "dustbin" story;
I think the boot was actually made in Amsterdam?

If I remember it correctly ( which is tough, after all this was fourty years ago! ) I got the "Stars" bootleg very soon after the Essen shows, and the "Jean-Clarke" much later. But maybe I did not have the best connections to bootleggers,
so that I missed the first delivery of the "J-C" boot?!

By the way, at the Essen shows, bootleggers were selling the "Live In London" lp from Wembley 1973.

I still have a "Hot Wacks" "book" from 1975, which lists the "Stars" boot,
but not the "J-C"?!

I have a sneaking suspicion, that the guys behind the "Stars" boot are the same,
who made the Neil Young "Live At The Roman Colosseum" bootleg.
