Robert Reeder a.k.a. Sister Morphine usually used recordings that were commonly available and EQ'd them and other enhancements such as taking the wide stereo Get Off My Cloud and making it not as wide. The only original material he had were some audience recordings and the 1997 Toronto rehearsals "Closer Than Close."

Wasn't NYC 7/25/72 Evening an original? I spoke to him on the phone one evening and he told me the story of how it came to be. I was rat-arsed on vodka and sedatives, he was stone cold sober.

He sent me a lorry load of The Good Sister's CDs gratis. A really sweet guy. Just to add to the slow demise of the label, both he and Cool Hand suffer from exigent back problems to the point that they must be careful about their intake of pain killers. Hardly conducive to EQing "Sweet Virginia", eh?

Iirc it stemmed from torrents from the same guy who discovered his version of Led Zep's 1970-09-19 NYC show didn't match what was available.

His was longer... cos he had in hands the uncirculated evening show, and one of LZ's top 10 perfs ever. smoking smiley

DCBA (may I call you 'DC' just this once?),

Robert's version of Cold English Blood Runs Hot is that two men worked at Madison Square Garden and had keys to a door that opened into The Garden from the street. A long maze of corridors later found one on the level of the stage. These guys used a reel to reel recorder and millions of miles of extension cords to tape the show. Robert told me that one can hear, "Happy Birthday, you M£therf£cker!", being yelled repeatedly. That was one of the tapers.

So, that's the story I heard from a reliable source. Are you able to expound on yours? I'm by no means 'baiting' you, just curious what the different details are.

BTW, did you see the evening show on July 25th? It really wasn't very good. The Tuesday matinee and Wednesday night shine far above it. But that's just me talking. Whaddoo I know? 42 years of immersion in the band, god knows how many times I've listened to the 1972 boots. I even met up w/Harold Colson at Union Station in LA in 2001 & we spent well over and hour debating whether Mick wore the Long Sleeve White Jumpsuit or the Short Sleeve White Jumpsuit on Tuesday even.
It was the Long Sleeve. But THAT means they did the Uptight/Satisfaction encore at the Philly matinee! Ever so odd.

And whilst we're on the subject, why didn't they play Honky Tonk Women as the encore Tuesday afternoon? Was it a security issue?

many excellent aud tapes from 97-99 were issued by sister first contrary to many comments. They did towards the end release a lot common material but to new collectors it gave another avenue for collection. I was sent many free cdrs also. The "Beggars" collection and the "Walk On water" cds were also very well done. Didn't I read on another thread that Robert passed away?

Sadly, Robert did pass away. I was a collector of the Good Sista's releases. When I had a problem with an order, I was comped 5 free titles without any solicitation on my part.

Yeah thanks, and it's also good to know he wasn't greedy as other ones!
