The scheduled November 20 Los Angeles return show was cancelled. Story here in Los Angeles Times, November 12.

So the count remains at 17 up until the Detroit shows and that's including the alleged San Diego show on the 11th.

So I wonder where the reporter is getting 19 from? Also they say "19th Show in 15 days" now from the 7th-24th I make that 17 days, a typing error perhaps?

I'm guessing the notes where hand written at the time and a 7 could be mistaken for a 5. With that in mind I guess a 9 could also look like a 7. Which if that is the case means the San Diego show on the on the 11th could of happened otherwise the count would be 16 or 18.

Well, I sure would like to be proven wrong,if you can come up with that tape, that would be a true find!
But then maybe it's only from Auburnwinking smiley

well, obviously whatever I thought I had or was told I had is wrong! ;-)

I find this thread very interesting. I think there's a hundred different reasons why this quote is wrong: typing error, counting mistake, counting from an old concert schedule that had since changed, wanting to beef up the numbers to look more impressive, etc. But anyway you look at it, I dont see enough evidence here alone to conclude there are missing shows.

Maybe he meant 15 shows in 19 days. That makes sense too. 7-24 is 18 days inclusive, and we know there were 15 shows. Lots of possibilities.

As I stated earlier he lists this show as happening in "Rolling With The Stones" but last time I quoted from Bill's book I was chastised about relying on the accuracy of it..

I can also confirm, from memory only, that the Nov. 20 show did not happen. It was specifically mentioned as cancelled in one of my 1969 Rolling Stone magazines which I have since sold. The Stones didn't want to go back to LA again, as I recall. Notice that Nico Zentgraf's generally-accurate "Complete Works" website does not list the show; I sent him a scan of the article.

I'm pretty sure the tape of the supposed show was three songs from the Nov. 9 2nd show KSAN broadcast. I tossed it once I figured that out.

Seems like there's plenty of evidence to suggest this show didn't happen then. What about the San Diego matinee on the 11th?

Hello Scotty!

Sorry but I'm afraid Karnbach is wrong here, don't think the LA show happened.

See also here, again from "The Rolling Stones Discover America" by Michael Lydon:

"With Chicago down and the tour more than half done, the Stones fly back to LA for a week's break."

Hi Rank, as a 69 tour lover I've read all this before but somehow I forgot about it.
Was "R.S discover America" a book or part of another book? When was it published first?
Btw. just noticed you're from Germany too.Which part you're from? Best . .
