Hi Stones fanatics,

here it is, Acid Project Vol 06, "Outside Looking In" or Rotterdam rehearsals 1975. The Stones went to Rotterdam in January `75. They were trying out guitar players to replace Mick Taylor. They were also rehearsing and recording with their mobile studio.
I had these recordings for years but they were in almost un-listenable quality, quite bad.

I do not know who and how made these recordings but my guess is that the tapers ( at least 2 of them ) were standing outside on the street [hence the title "Outside Looking In"] and probably recording with microphones on a small cassette player, what was coming out of The Stones mobile truck - studio, through the open windows. You can very well hear street sounds, like cars and buses passing, dogs barking, people talking...etc.

Some of the songs were suffering from digital glitches, lot`s of them. Only song number 10 on disc 4, i was cleaning painstakingly with a pen tool (manually) for 4 days.
I have worked very hard to make this listenable. As usual i have fixed phase, pitch, level and did the EQ.
There is no limiting, no compressing, no noise reduction.
Mr D was again very involved. Another one of his great covers, he was also checking for all of the songs data and titles.

This is an important moment in Stones history, when it was just Mick,Keith,Charlie and Bill looking for a new band member.

Most of these recording were made by putting a microphone in the mailbox of the stones recording truck. Some recordings were made secretly inside the truck. Others were made from the outside because it was to dangerous to put the mike in the mailslot.

Thanks for the info. Then my guessing was pretty close, i mean that it was recorded from the street [ Outside Looking In ]. I have thought it was through the windows but instead it was through the mail box.

I've downloaded the files and burned them to CD. Then I searched for my old bootleg of the rehearsals, actually found it (I'm not that organised anymore since I retired, lol!) and compared.
IMHO a vast improvement, a job well done Captain A!

A small remark, this will always be a bootleg for die-hard fans; if you expect a nice, tidy SB concert boot, save yourself the trouble of downloading this one. (I didn't; getting a remastered version of my old boot for free thanks to CaptainA and Mr D was something I couldn't refuse ).

Just bumped into this, looks like a great effort. These are legendary recordings...I remembered getting four 90 minute from marclaf in the mail ten years ago after trying to get a hold of them for years. I'd converted them to MP3 at the then state of the art 128kbps bitrate but never really went back to them.

Time to revisit !

Too bad we never got full versions of "English Rose", sounds like a great song. Hopefully this will all come out someday but probably not as a remaster project like Exile or SG as I doubt the Stones hold B&B in a very high regard.
