Brussels out now on LP/CD

First of all - don't get me wrong - this is no promotional thing for this relase.

I collect so many things and I still can't say no to vinyl BUT I definitely think it's a wrong turn to release the archive-material on bootleg. But as other companies will do it as well I can understand why "Red Tongue Records" did it.

So far I've no idea if they used the MP3-or the flac-files. The cover information is - as usual - partially wrong but it looks damned good - 3 LPs on marbled vinyl, two CDs, a beautiful package.

I've ripped the first 3 tracks and it looks like the flac-files have been used. TLH is sure for 99% for Brown Sugar and 100% for the following two tracks. At least something...

Message to Stones, UM, ABKCO: Why didn't you release this show on cd? Now the bootleggers are making money off your download.

I have 2 questions:
1) What version is that additional Midnight Rambler (side D, track 16)? From London (Back To The Graveyard)?
2) Is this RTR 013 ? (can't read the number well on the photo)

It's RTR-015 - Midnight Rambler D/16 is from London 9/9

From what I've heard it should be Undercover and another one I forgot.

Good to hear that your vinyls are taken from FLAC and not MP3, Silkcut, so you didn't get tricked

In case, anybody is interested in the info,
Brussels Affair 73 (1CD silver + 1CDR) feat. both Brussels shows, has just been released in Japan. From the artworks, it looks like IMP release, but if so, it's a "no numbered IMP release.
...though IMP would have mentioned that 3 tracks comes from 2nd Brussels on the backside, one would think.

...and no, I haven't purchased it.

Do I see that correctly that this new CD release is 1 CD with the official download and 1 CDR with bonus material from London & Brussels??? Looks like a SODD release with that bonus CDR...

Yes, 1CD + 1CDR from London/Brussels (and maybe Newcastle), that's true

But I doubt this is SODD. It looks like a "no numbered Idol Mind" release, artworkwise
Also - you can see that they use *thin* paper, which IMP also uses (look at the crease on the backside of the photo above.)
IMP has released lots of CDR releases in the past, allthough not packaged together with silver CDs.

Yes, it doesn't really look like a SODD release. The guy in that ebay offer says the number is "RS731017" (which says not much...).

It's mentioned as "non label" on Japanese sites.
And I see that they know about the 3 songs coming from 1st Brussels after all, so...."non numbered IMP" is the best bet, I think: [www.beastones.com]

The bid for this CD at eBay is at $77 at the moment and the auction is still running... Totally crazy!

It's actually not that crazy. A 2CD bootleg usually cost about 50 dollars anyway. And this Brussels bootleg is sold out in Japan, and hard to get.
In the 80s and 90s, the prices were even higher, if you take in consideration that 50 dollars (which they costed back then, as well) was a lot more money back then, than 50 dollars now.

but it`s crazy in the sense of comparing it to the 9$ price you had to pay for the OFFICIAL release. those guys are so dumb, why only release it as download, not on CD or vinyl.....

Yes I agree, Falo, strange that they didn't release it officially on CD/LP. I would gladly have purchased an official vinyl set of Brussels, even though I had paid 9 dollars for the download allready - without any doubt

But I don't think I'll shell out for a Japanese bootleg of the same material. Buying bootleg CDs doesn't make sense anymore, like it did a couple of years ago. Because they never come up with new material....unlike they did in the 90s, when lots of VGP releases were upgrades over my tape-copies. New bootlegs back then were exciting ! Now they just copy torrents - or re-release old bootlegs.

Well... Time is on their side. They can always release Brussels and all upcoming concerts as a "superdeluxe" bootleg box set at the end of 2012 on CD, vinyl, in special LV case, in wig box, on flash drive etc....

You start complaining too early winking smiley

I think that the point of these releases is simplicity.
Just offer a download like many of their fans already do and charge a simple set price.

No distribution problems, no logistics, no shipping, no customer servicing.
Its just "Come and get it" and almost pure profit. Only Bob Clearmountain has to be sorted out.

So easy for them.

Good point there, Munichhilton

I also have thought about how easy it is for them; and therefor wondered why we have to wait 3 months between each of the "releases" - or why they limit it to only 6 releases.
Hope they change their minds after those 6 releases are done, and open a LOT more of the "live vaults".....maybe a new show every week? They could earn a lot on this, themselves - and us fans would be happy.

I agree and believe they will end up releasing more. Maybe not one a week! That would keep Bob quite busy, and I believe he may be part of the reason for the 3 months. That and avoiding over saturation.

This whole six show release has the feel of a market test run. So it's up to us to throw cash at it...

Found it, Great. If they release it on vinyl officially I will buy that as well like I have with D/L mp3 and flac. Its a pity they could not release official vinyl for Live Licks, Forty Licks, R&R Circus, Shine a Light. If they did I would buy them and dispose of my boot vinyl.
