I think I've seen a post like this on here before, but if I can get some sort of consensus on which tracks to include on an alternate LLY, then I'll remaster the tracks and clean them up (where necessary) and blend the LP together to make it sound like a legit concert experience.

I already have some obvious performances I'd like to include, but I'd love to hear some of your suggestions. The criteria should be any live performance between 1975-1977 (El Mocambo). Here some I'd like to include:

"Gimme Shelter" (Buffalo 6-15-75)
"Dance Little Sister" (El Mocambo 77)
"Hand Of Fate" (Paris 6-6-76)
"Wild Horses" (Knebworth 8-21-76)

Any thoughts?

Good idea. It would have a better flow that way. For me, in terms of audience recordings for the 1975 tour, Luxury In Toronto (this is worth considering a remaster on its own, hint hint ;-)) is the best performance and is very good sound. The well known L.A. shows (9th - L.A Fog, 11th - Falo's Matrix and 13th - L.A. Friday) are the best sounding but the performances aren't as good as Toronto IMO. NYC 27th has very good sound but again not the best performance. Fort Collins July 19th 1975 (More Rock From Elton VGP) has excellent sound. San Francisco 15th and 16th July are good too. Sounboards include Buffalo 15 June 1975 and Detroit 28th July 1975 (VGP-368).

From the 1976 tour, audience recordings, Paris 5th (VGP-241) and 7th (DAC-087). There might be other decent audience recordings..? Soundboards, your remaster of Paris 6th June. 7th June (DAC-087). Lyon 9th June (DAC-010). Frankfurt 29th April VGP-135) and of course Knebworth (VGP-146).

OK, you're giving me ideas now. Rather than pulling songs off of the releases you mentioned, it makes more sense to remaster some of the shows in their entirety. Based on what you said, I should probably start with Toronto.

I'll just keep the LYL alternative project on the side, and compile it on the fly while I become more familiar with these '75-'76 shows.

Toronto is IMO the best performance from that tour so a remaster of yours would be great! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Just an update...I had a nasty trojan unleashed on my cpu a few days ago. In frustration, I hastily restored a backup without saving all the music I was working. So the "LYL" tracks I'd mixed got flushed, which may or may not turn out to be a bad thing :-) but it definitely sets the project back a little.

Thanks for part 2 of RLYL! Which version of Fingerprint File did you use Sam? Also, may I suggest you use tracks 5-15 (the mix is more balanced) off DAC-046, found here - [www.iorr.org] for the next volume?

"Fingerprint File" is from "Missing Jewels" RS028. I'll try to include some songs from 1976.06.04 for the next volume.

Thanks for the DAC-046 link. It's more balanced overall than some of the other Paris releases, but don't you find the noise reduction on there to be too much? They've suppressed some low-level signal components and robbed the mix of certain dynamics like Charlie's cymbals, which are almost completely gone.

The mono-remixes on cd2 are great though.

Are you referring to the mono remixes being too suppressed or the 4th June stuff? There is a longer sb version of Fingerprint File by 3 mins you know?

I was talking about the June 4th concert. The mono mixes are nearly perfect.

I know there's a longer ver of Fingerprint File. I ran out of time on the vol. 2 disc...that's why Tumbling Dice got left off.

I just remastered the July 4th portion of DAC-046. I'll post it tomorrow (going to sleep now)

You mentioned in a previous post about doing a SB LYL and an AUD LYL. Maybe try this when you do the next volume? It might have a better continuity? (not that what you've done already doesn't work )

There's quite a few outstanding versions played during the June 2 (early) Cologne show, which exists in vg+/exc aud sound quality.
