Downloading You Tube clips
Posted by: Silver Dagger ()

Until recently I was able to download You Tube videos by using my Real Player. All I had to do was hover my curser over the clip and it would offer me the opportunity to download and save them on my computer.

About 8 weeks ago that stopped and I can't seem to download them anymore. Has anyone else had this problem or is it only my computer?

Any suggestion for a good programme to download these clips?

I,m guessing you use Firefox,as i had the same problem. The Real Player download option stills works on Google Chrome and IE so i just switch to one of those if i want to download a vid.

You still can download YT-clips if you use Mozilla Firefox, because you have in that case also NetVideoHunter. You find the icon at the right side of your screen, of course below. When a vids starts to play, NetVideoHunter automatically captures the vid and you can download it by rightclicking on the icon. Then the program pops up and you follow the simple instructions. BTW: at the right side of the icon you see a number: that's the number of captured vids.

Edit: correction

I used to do the kiss method

If you play a YT video you see the link in the browser
put kiss infront of youtube and enter again

I´ll haven´t done this since 2007 and have to refresh my memory how it realy worked.

Nice video though

Until recently you could download through Firefox Download Helper videos in Mpeg 4 high quality - but now the only option is FLV, which doesn't always convert well

Don't know if there is a get-around for this

Cheers

Sorry to repeat myself but keepvid.com is really good, and converts to mp4.

Just paste the address (e.g. www.youtube.com/watch?v=80H9KFUdZog&feature=player_embedded) in the window and follow the instructions.

For Firefox, there are loads of add-ons to download YouTube clips. The one I like best is "1-click YouTube video downloader". It puts a nice link on the actual page to download the video in either FLV or MP4 format.

Thanks, Strettonbull. I downloaded it and it was excellent.
