Midnrambler, have you noticed if DAC used *your* rip of More Fast Numbers for their CD release? You uploaded it to Dime, if I remember it correctly.
BTW, I still haven't downloaded/bought this DAC......but I have the vinyl - hope the DAC is not a "downgrade" for those tracks....as some of their other vinyl-rips are - at least for VGP.

Erik my enthusiasm for this CD had faded greatly. Buy it at your own risks ><

BTW, I still haven't downloaded/bought this DAC......but I have the vinyl - hope the DAC is not a "downgrade" for those tracks....as some of their other vinyl-rips are - at least for VGP.

Trust me, this is way better than the vinyl release. The vinyl even has skips on When The Whip Comes Down II (from another source). Which makes me suspect it's a straight rip from either Some Tramps or Genius Is Pain.

In term of sound quality, some trax are excellent (WTWCD), some are total crap (Do You Think I Really Care), way too "denoised", when those tracks are available elsewhere else in perfect quality.

Disppointing as I was expecting a great release as DAC did a wonderful job with "All Inside Tour Crazy Dreams" and "Back To Zero".

The good point is the release of two tracks which where not available in CD before (well actually one and half, as I Can't Help It "III" was released on some CD, but shortened.)

This release is a missed opportunity.

The definitive "Some Girls sessions" boot remains to be done.

I think the 5CD release from Pignose records with all the Some Girls outtakes comes pretty close to the definate version....

On the plus side DAC have always been good at making sure the tapes run at the right speed and DAC-097 is no exception so kudos to them for this!

No, this is not a new version. Two outtakes of Start Me Up are available since the vinyl era (1980s). This is one of them, the other is very close to the released version. The More Fast Numbers LP has been released in 1985.

Mitch is 100% right : the finished outtakes (A DIFFERENT KIND, DO YOU THINK I REALLY CARE etc) sound MUCH better on VGP-370 (Accidents Will Happen)

More generally we should wonder why DAC still tries to replicate (or pay tribute to?) hodge-podge LP releases from 25-30 years ago instead of methodically documenting sessions or years of recording on coherent CDs?

Most complete for sure, but still incomplete and again, most of the tracks (if not all) are now available elsewhere is much better quality.
So, definate version, unfortunately no, but it was a good try made by stones lovers.

Yes I'd seen that LP in my original "Hot Wacks" from 1990, didn't remember hearing any SMU versions that sounded different from the released version on the various 77 sessions CDs I have. Maybe because I was expecting to hear the "reggae version". I found the original MFN link, will check it out, the say "02 Start Me Up (take II)"

It's odd that the "reggae version" only surfaced in 2003 (or was it 2004) out of the blue and alone on the "Tattoo Too" CF. At the time some argued it came from the 1975 sessions where it was supposedly started but it sounds 77/78 to me.
