I'm convinced that Lady Jane is an outfake produced by taking a stereo version, putting one of the channels out of phase & then remixing the two channels by adjusting the volume of one channel against the other until the 'null spot' is obtained.
This produces a mono version with anything that's common to both channels being cut out. The remnant of Mick's voice is the reverb that's been added & which is usually panned to give the voice greater depth.
I have had good results doing this myself (I've built my own black box to do this) but I know there is a wide-stereo version available, Japanese I believe, which I'd love to get a hold of to experiment with.
