Talking of Satanic Majesties, has anyone heard of (or got) this super-rare vinyl version in some kind of padded box that wasrecently in theRecord Collector top 20 most valuable rarities?

Hmmm... not sure about that one.

What does make this copy valuable is the stain of fruit punch that was spilled years ago on the cover which soaked through the 3D plastic.

It looks like I need a new scanner...

That 3D picture was an expencive one back in 1967. As I recall it, the manufacturing cost of the LP was more expencive that the retail price. They actually lost money for each copy sold.
But it is a nice LP. A few good ons on it as well. I actually just gave it a spin on the turntable as I took some pictures of my copies for the next LP documentation project on my Decca pages....

Well, reproducing a 3D-cover might not get any better than this.

The easist to spot is George... next to Charlie's sleeve.

They told me ones that on first UK releases underneath the 3D pictures is a pornographic picture that was forbidden back then.

So I suggest that you all rip off the 3D picture from your record and see if you own that versiont's, ask StoneRelics if you don't believe me.

B.t.w. I'm not responsible for any damaged done to your record

John, Paul, George and Ringo hidden in the foliage:

You can't see 'em in the 3D version.

Looking at the 3D picture again I'm reminded that it's not just 3D but it's one of those "moving" pictures.
If you move it around Charlie and Keith turn to look at each other as do Bill and Brian. Mick, however stares straight at you, but he does open his arms out.
And, despite what I said earlier, you can just about make out George near Charlie's sleeve.

I'm curious how many 3D covers were actually manufactured ?....UK,USA,International numbers ?...this 3D marketing ploy has been around for decades but it might be interesting to compile a list of 3D lp covers...I only own/know of a few...Captain Beyond & The Stranglers "The Raven" are 2 that come to mind...any others you guys can think of ?.....Peter

"LENTICULAR is the combination of two or more images viewed with a special lens to create a desired animated effect. The images are interlaced, or combined and then printed wrong-reading directly to the back of the lens. Due to the optics designed into the lens, your eye is forced to see only a very small area of the lens at a certain viewing angle.

The first lenticular image was produced in the 1930's by Victor Anderson, and thus the first lenticular producing company, VariVue was born. By the late 1940's, VariVue had become a household name producing millions of lenticular products including record album covers, Cracker Jack prizes, postcards, buttons and more."

I didnt get the album until I was 15 in 1977, but I was buying all their new albums on the first day of release since GHS. The 3D cover for Satanic was pretty easily available right through 1975.
