UGH! Not only would that jack up the price of tickets it would inevitably lead to him actually singing. But I'm not really concerned as I don't think Sting could ever subsume his ego to that degree.

BTW where is Tetsu? I haven't even seen his name mentioned in any of these Faces reunion articles.

I read that he is in Japan in a jazz fusion band of some sort. He is fairly popular in Japan. I believe he has a website.

Hello,

I read the following post on another site this morning-an unreal final sentence!

"...About three months ago I was contacted by Kenny J's 'manager' who said Kenny wanted to write his autobiography and could I offer him some advice. He asked various questions about books and the book business which I answered, telling him certain things which he perhaps might not have wanted to hear - ie I didn't bullshit him. I offered to meet with Kenny (whom I have, of course, met plenty of times over the years and who happens to live near me now) and he said he'd get back but he never did.

(I suspect the reason for this was that I stressed that in order for the book to be any good, and therefore sell, Kenny would have to tell the truth about his feelings for all the musicians he's worked with, especially Rod, both Ronnies, Mac, Marriott, the Who, everyone really, and if he just said everyone was 'great' and 'fabulous' and the book was a bland out as a result no-one would buy. Kenny has always been, er, something of a diplomat, so you can see why this might cause a problem...)

The manager mentioned that Kenny wanted his book out in time for a Faces reunion tour which was planned for the autumn of 2009, and another of the things I said which he probably didn't want to hear was that he'd better a get a move on then as the book business is notoriously slow at turning projects around.

Anyway, I asked who would play bass and he wasn't sure. Not Tetsu, who is evidently in no state of health to undertake such a commission. Not Bill Wyman, who doesn't like travelling/flying and would therefore do only UK gigs. I suggested Rick Wills who lives in the same village as Kenny and played in that Small Faces reunion and seemed the obvious choice. The manager agreed and that was it.

Now get this... I mentioned all this to someone I know a couple of months later who told me that he'd been told that Kenny had suggested none other than Sting for the bass slot."

Yowza!

Cheers,

Si.

Seems Conrad Korsch (Stewarts bassplayer) is playing with them during rehearsals, but no definitive word on who will be the touring bassplayer.

I actually spoke with Conrad in NYC while on tour recently and he mentioned he was going to be playing on the Faces tour. He was very nice. He said if they come to New Orleans he'd get ahold of us.

From Rolling Stone
Ron Wood Says Faces Reunion Tour Is “Ready to Go”
12/1/08, 2:38 pm EST

Ron Wood has confirmed long-standing reports that the Faces are gearing up for a reunion tour next year. “We had a few fantastic rehearsals last week and we’re ready to go,” Wood tells Rolling Stone. “It’s like no time has passed by.” Rod Stewart’s touring bassist Conrad Korsch sat in on bass, replacing original Faces bassist Ronnie Lane who died in 1997. “There’s a lot of guest bass players that want to do it — including Flea,” says Wood. They plan on hitting the road sometime in 2009, though no dates have been set. “We just have to sort out when and where and drop all of the management egos and just do what we can. We know we can do it. It’s just a matter of getting everyone’s availability sometime next year.” New studio work might also be in their future. “Rod wants me to write a load of new stuff for him, so I can do that,” says Wood. As far as Wood’s other band goes, he says he’s “always itching to do more work with [The Rolling Stones]. We just haven’t decided when and where, yet, but I know we will.”

No Stones next year...

And no Mac in Austin, it doesn't sound like. He's touring Europe early in '09 with James McMurtry (link: [www.twangnation.com] ), followed closely by his own tour in February and March (with a stop in Austin for St. Paddy's Day, praises be!).

And then if the Faces are out on tour this summer... no Mac in Austin. sad smiley But surely the Faces will have a show there, considering. I hope.

Re the matter of scehduling the tour (+ any recording), Stewart also has some gigs scheduled - and a new album to promote, I believe.
I think Ronnie is the only one with the time on his hands.

Ronnie always has time on his hands.

What new record does Rod have out? That new comp? He has nothing to do with that one he said. The Warner Brothers album.

As far as I know his ?new label is J Records, part of the SONY group, I think Clive Davis may be chief.I don't folow Rod really, so my facts may be wrong.
Isn't it some time since he reeased an album of new material? I'm sure a Spring release date has been mentioned.

two things i heard from somebody who was there was rod wanted 50% of all monies and the amps underneath the stage like he's doing on his songbook tours
the other guys said...what the @#$%&...and it just went from there"

Rod is a great talent but has sure hurt his rep(with all the songbook crap) and being such a TURD.

i guess one can never be too cynical.
and thanx for that harsh reminder, hollywood rod...graceless...

guess i've got to leave it where it is...on 'long player' and 'a nod is as good as a wink...'
and on some very early rod 'solo' with ronnie...and some moments from other faces releases...

the rod/ron era band has been reasonably well captured in performance fairly early on...tv spots, vids on youtube and in iorr archives etc...
this is a disappointment to me...i feel foolish for dialing in in the first place...sigh..was really somehow hoping, as impossible it was...
i'd like to see that unplugged rod and ron thing again sometime soon (mtv)

How unusual. Is there any good reason Rod would want the amps underneath the stage? Aside from a stage design standpoint....is there any other useful point for Rod wanting this?

I'd reckon the "amps under the stage" wasn't an issue but why the hell does he wants 50% of the profits?! He's got money enough, shouldn't this be nothing more then to have fun with old friends instead of doing it for the money???

Cheers,
Wuudy

My sources now tell me that the trouble only began when Rod insisted that ALL the Faces perform, unseen by the audience, behind a black curtain at the back of the stage.

I think someone is having you on..........
