they all stayed there, based on all i've heard--bebe buell even told me she was coptered out there to keep mick company a few times during rehearsals--and was put up (alone) in one of those cottages.they were in town a lot drinking and playing pool, but at the complex they were under heavy guard (with police dogs and patrol boats)

You know how long they rehearsed for there and in Newburgh?
3 weeks? 4 weeks? Less than that?
Hey, hbwriter, your next book should be about the TOTA tour,
9interview Jules Fisher, Robin Wagner, who thought up that stage, etc..)
JUst don't charge $800 like the last book (I'm sure it's excellent, and I've seen bits, but I draw the line at books for $800).
However, I will sell you the idea for $175,000.

great idea! smiling smiley

I think montauk was a month or so, from mid april to mid may--then newburgh to test the stages right before the tour started, near the end of may

though some of the experts here may be able to pin the days down--an amazing lot here

Yeah, I just wondered if anyone knew how long they rehearsed there.
Bill may mention it in his book. I'll have to check.
I'll let you know where to mail the check.

Question about Memory Motel.
Nico's website lists the Stones recording Memory Motel - the motel in Montauk - in Munich between March 25 and April 4, 1975.
His site also lists the Stones arriving in Montauk for rehearsals in late April 1975 and departing on May 4th.

Did Jagger already know about the Memory Motel? Found an article about Andy Warhol at montauklife.com/history which says Jagger was in Montauk as early as 1972, But that article has multiple errors so i'm not sure.

Was it recorded with a different working title and renamed Memory Motel later?
The lyrics talk about the 75 Tour - Baton Rouge, been 10,000 miles, been in 15 states - and that tour was from June to August 1975. Black & Blue didn't come out with this song until 1976.

Just curious.
If Jagger was in Montauk prior to the TOTA rehearsals in April/May 75 no doubt he was familiar with the Memory Motel there.

yeah, he was out there a lot before that--the hotel hypes the situation a bit, but i think the seeds were planted '73-'74--at least for the title

I'm really anxious to see if anything surfaces on the '75 Greensboro show from July 31.
No bootleg that i'm aware of.
Some TOTA tour tshirts spelled Greensboro wrong (Greensborough...).
Even Nico's site lists the state and venue incorrectly - it was the Greensboro (North Carolina) Coliseum, not the Greensboro (Ohio) War Memorial Coliseum.

Has anyone heard the interview that Nico lists of Keith and Woody on the Greensboro stop July 31, 1975?

Nell--NO, haven't heard that--but would love to

cannot wait to see if an image or two surfaces from this under-reported gig

So which show is the backstage footage on the Tony Palmer DVD "all you need is love" doco from.

If you go to the DVD website there is a promo clip on which part of this footage is shown, Jagger on the way to the stage with a parasol.

I would bet some top quality seed on that particular clip being from Denver.

anyone remember the rolling stone article during 75 tour where lisa robinson brought jagger over to some writer's house for a visit? it was done from the writer's point of view, what it was like to open the door and have jagger at his doorstep

i vaguely remember this -- if it is the one i am thinking of, i think she actually brought mick to this guy's house later in 75 after the tour was over, in san francisco.

mick had a beer and this guy then put the empty beer bottle on his mantel or something like that.

is this the one??

I think it was called "I wait and wait and wait on Mick" by david someone?

Dave Marsh. Mick burned him Texas through Chicago and Dave packed it in. Very awkward meeting at Dave's flat in SF. Mick asked for coke, Dave told him to go to the kitchen and open the refrigerator and get it himself. Just stupid....

yeah, a bottle of coke sounds right.

Sorry, don't know who the photographer nor where I found it. It's been on my hard disk for a while. A lot of the pics I found over the years are uncredited.

I agree with ya all. But when I started saving pics I never bothered saving that info plus the fact that many of the pics I found over the years were uncredited. Well we're labeling them anywyay now, so better do a thorough job. Thanks for the detalis. Please don't mind if post some more uncredited eyecandy.

I think that's Boston. BTW, that's the outfit Mickette wore in Seattle on that tour. He didn't wear it too often on that tour. The red was actually slightly more orange, like Cunard red.

if i'm thinking of the same Charlie shirt that hbwriter is thinking of,
i believe it was similar but not the same. it's barely visible in this Toronto shot:

ss--great job--is it definitely different? seems so "un charlie"

like i say i believe it's different, but i might be wrong.
and he has worn some stuff over the years that's outside the boundaries
of what one might normally think of as "Charlie-like" ... so we can broaden the boundaries :E

i have another shot around here somewhere where Charlie's in a very similarly stripey-geometric shirt
it's not from the 75 tour, though ... if i can locate it i'll post it for comparative purposes
