So, exactly how are they "making over" these albums?

Universal Deluxe Editions at the very least usually come as 2 disc sets with previously unreleased material... promising news! cool smiley

News release at the time the deal was announced:
"Of the groups 24 million albums sold in the US since 1991, only 3.5 million have been for new studio recordings" - according to Nielsen Soundscan.
The rest have been for "catalog, live albums and other miscellany".

Mr. Allen Klein of ABCKO Industries must be satisfied with the investment he made in 1965.

Indeed, if these releases really follow their Deluxe series, that's great news, if this is true at all. And I hope they actually get full access to lots of unreleased stuff; otherwise there's no real point in this.

AS LONG AS THE STONES ARE TOGETHER NO OUTTAKES, ECT. WILL BE RELEASED.

Perhaps sticky and exile outtakes could be problematic due to when they were written etc!?

I wish ABKCO and Universal could get together and give us deluxe editions of the 60's stuff! Man, Deluxe Beggars Banquet, mm, mmmmmm!

Is it not more realistic that this will just be a rebranding exercise/giving the sound quality a bit of a fiddle rather than a full-blown 'Deluxe Edition' set up?

"Not even one month has passed since The Rolling Stones switched from EMI to Universal but their new label are wasting no time in releasing deluxe versions"

they can't say this until they actually release the discs. All they've done is make an announcement.

This is what I hoped for. YIPPEEEEEE!!!! Can't wait for it.

I just helped my dad carry up 2 new sofas for three frickin' flights of stairs. I sit down at the computer and see this post. My heart skipped a beat right there.

I wonder why Some Girls isn't there? It must be a mistake.
I really can't wait to see what will be on them....

Rather than put out "deluxe versions" I wish they would just take all the unreleased stuff and put it out as a boxed set or sets. I don't like having to buy an album I already have just to get the disc of unreleased stuff.

Plus, I think the albums should be sold and listened to as originally intended and originally released, without a bunch of bonus material (much of which is often filler) cluttering up the works.

Totally correct..you could conceivably end up having to buy up to 19 albums to get maybe three or four discs worth of unreleased material. Quel surprise.

Some very pointless choices here. Two of these albums are non-essential compilations which were already re-released within the last 4 years. Five are live albums (will the deluxe reissue of Live Licks be edited properly? Anyone taking bets?). Cant really imagine the live albums having bonus tracks.

I think I'll just be downloading the bonus tracks.

Agree with Gazza and ohno.. And I really can't see these albums including bonus tracks since the Stones are always relectant to release any of this stuff. I think it will be just remastered with nice cover art. I hope I am wrong but just can't see anything really new coming out with these releases.

dont see the point in rebranding these cd,s.

its the same songs, which were released originaly under a different record company.

maybe they will add in the odd outtake, but then it memans buying a whole cd you already have just to get 1 or 2 extra unreleased songs.

wouldnt mind the stones releasing outtakes, live editions of previously unreleased concert songs and a new album.

I expect a new remastered sound and that's it. No outtakes or alternate takes. Pessimistic? Yup...but that's the only way to look at Stones plans...

Thinking about what could be on these releases........

How to expand on a "best of" CD (Like Jump Back)??? A DVD with videos of the songs????
How about Live Licks? What would be a special disc for that one? It's 2 discs already. Will it include those versions of Hand Of Fate and that stuff that was on singles???
Stripped - A DeLuxe version including the live b-side tracks (Awesome idea).
What with Bridges? Ain't there only one b-side (Anyway You Look At It)?

Using these releases to gather all the single b-sides and that kind of stuff is a great idea. I also hope for unreleased material though (I have no problem with it since it will most likely be on another disc).

A few of my post-Decca cd's are the old CBS ones, so I'll most certainly be replacing those. Haven't been arsed as of yet, but this could just be the excuse!
