Along with The Rolling Stones, Queen & Status Quo, they were one of the very few groups who survived Punk unscathed (& unlike The Stones & Queen, Thin Lizzy & The Quo didn't change their music to adapt!).

Lizzy's music transformed into sumfin (even) heavier
from 1979 and on. Thats might be under influence of punk rock
and heavy metal, indirectly yet hardly an adaption.

The punkinfluence is no wonder, since Lizzy and the Pistols had a little sideproject called The Greedies, their christmas single is superb.

Actually I believe Phil played with almost all the UK punk icons.

Queen and Quo might have survived punk by making it to the 80s but they certainly were never thought of as cool. The Stones barely made it and were temporarily redeemed by the Some Girls album. The Emotional Rescue single was not overly popular with the post punks - at least in the UK.

Was listening to the Planet Rock station there and they announced that there's a live album (recorded in 1975 with the classic line-up) being released in September. Very raw and ready with no overdubs. They played two tracks from it 'Rosalie' and 'The Rocker'. I'm no big Lizzy fan but it sounded pretty hot.

From www.rocklegend.thin-lizzy.info:

The Thin Lizzy UK Tour '75 CD is finally listed for release on 8th September (this year).

UK Tour ’75 was originally recorded for Radio Trent at Derby College Of Art And Technology on 21st November 1975 during the Fighting Tour.
Apparently the original recording from the 1/4" stereo master tape has been transferred to CD, and completely re-mastered.
The album will be released as a deluxe CD, including a soundcheck recording,
a 20-page booklet of previously unseen live photos and exclusive liner notes written by Brian Downey.

The album features an early outing for Cowboy Song in embryonic form which went onto appear on the Jailbreak album in 1976.

The eagle-eyed among you will recognise that this is the complete version of the show included in the recent Live And Dangerous DVD Box Set as a bonus CD, in cut-down form and minus Derby Blues (Cowboy Song) as listed in the advance publicity and on retailers websites.

Tracklist:

1. Fighting My Way Back
2. It's Only Money
3. Wild One
4. For Those Who Love To Live
5. Still In Love With You
6. Showdown
7. Suicide
8. Rosalie
9. The Rocker
10. Sha La La
11. Baby Drives Me Crazy
12. Me And The Boys
13. Cowboy Song (Derby Blues)
14. Little Darling
15. Sound Check Jam

Thanks, Ville. The mid-70s Lizzy material is generally superior.
Only goup except the Stones which I have collected bootlegs by.
And.. well.. A few more initiated by Sohoe (like Patti Smith & Doors
& a few reggae artists) & eventually also some Hungarian bands.

Most grateful for the tips.
