Remember the scandal when they unveiled this hideous (and since replaced, I believe) memorial bust of Brian Jones in his hometown?

Hideous because of the painted golden hair...

Brian, and Brian's's hair, was part of the Stones' distinct image (or personality, magnified by Andrew) that had great impact on fans, younger bands, and he helped shape what disgusted parents gaping at their TVs as the RS played on Ed Sullivan. He had his own above-it-all (later out of it all, clouded, in photos almost an apparition), effete sort of sneer and his feline eyes and smile, vaguely menacing in an erotic way yet androgynous, and like his friend Hendrix a polarizing figure in his baubled and bangled finery. Without Brian what might Michael Clarke of the Byrds have looked like? We can only guess. All those garage bands circa '66 with their bangs and blonde guitarists (Shadowa of Knight etc).
Of course disheveled shags trickled down a decade later, too. I mean it's hardly surprising no hipsters fell in line when Lennon and Charlie briefly cut it all off (in '70 & '75 respectively). And Mick's 1980 beard, of course, barely registered a blip.

You could always tell when he was messed up on SOMETHING or other because of the puffy bags under his eyes. I've never seen a guy with bags like his!!

Unbelievable really, even accounting for the age difference, the changes in Brian's appearance from 1963-67.
Not a good advert for acid.

I believe Anita said that Brian would cut his own hair, which is surprising considering his profile. He also washed it so often that Mick and Keith disparagingly called him "Shampoo." He took it personally when the Stones were called "dirty" in the press.

Acid? No sense of proportion there, certainly, but Lets not forget his incapacity to handle all sorts of things including fame, emotional problems, endless Mandrax, barbs, amphetimines, alcohol, etc etc.

I always think of Brain when I hear that Warren Zevon song...
Werewolves of London...

The line that says ...

"And his hair was perfect!"

I don't believe cutting extensions is necessary.

no quite- extensions wouldn't grow, i suppose.
Would they just be replaced for longer/shorter one's, if he wanted a different
'hair' length or style?
