I said , what are you doing to yourself?? Because i love Ronnie immensely. I have seen them live since 1976 and been close to Ronnie's spot on the stage. He is a loveable guy. Like i said, i like a drink myself, but i hate to see him wasting away and... destroying the future for us to see the Stones live again.

No, Mick Taylor wont replace him. Keef and Mick dont want Taylor in again.

Let us keep faith in Ronnie, he will fight this battle !!

Ya marry a Rolling Stone and ya pays ya price. Anybody marrying into their lifestyle knows exactly the deal they're going to get. Anyway, it's high time we had a good Rolling Stones scandal. Keeps the image up at least.

Keep enjoying it while you can if thats what floats your boat. There wont be too many more.

Blimey. Good to see Anita Pallenberg's new fitness regime has done wonders for her.

In an earlier post I pleaded ignorance to not knowing much about
Jo Wood.....and that in most of the pre-1990s tv clips I've seen/heard...showed
her in (possibly) the same altered state as Ronnie.

I learned from this YouTube clip that she became more health conscious
in the Steel Wheels era.

If it is widely known, name who it was to be. Otherwise it's bullshit. He was gonna get replaced by George whatisface for 1981 - didn't happen. Who's worried about Ronnie being too whatever on tour?

Look at Keith.

Widely known. No it's not. The rumour might be but there are no facts that I am aware of. SOSDD.

Perhaps not 'widely known' among the general tabloid-reading public out there (who couldn't give a shit anyway), but certainly among the many contributors on these very pages (and other Stones boards). And anyway, just what kind of ‘evidence’ is it that you want? Perhaps the editor of the London Times to broadcast it all over his front page? And are you so stupid as to think that the Stones would talk about it openly in public, even on their public-friendly cuddly-wuddly concert DVDs?

Face these facts; namely that it's hard business sunshine, and as far as the Stones camp goes, money does most if not all of the talking.

Are you daft enough to think that with the Licks tour fully planned, with promoters fees promised, stadiums, arenas, theatres booked etc., that they'd cancel the whole itinery in the event that Ronnie couldn't stand up? If you do, then you need your head examined.

Keith, Mick and Charlie are the main guys in this band (like it or not) and only their enforced absence would have forced such a cancellation.

As for your request for a named replacement, again, are you stupid enough to think that the Stones would have even got as far as choosing one, let alone auditioning and then naming one?

Ronnie is THE man. We all know that.

We know too, that in principle, he is irreplaceable.

…and in principle only.

I think your wrong. At this late stage, when everything been achieved and more, the stones wouldn't replace Ronnie.

I suspect Jagger et all are not as heartless as you say and actually have a real concern for a friend and band mate of over 30 years.

has anyone brought this up - if ronnie is drinking so much, could he really "get it up" in order to actually have an affair with this girl?

Fair point, but they also have their business concerns (with only a limited amount of time in which to maximise them) and if he's not up to it, then they're not gonna wait.

"me? i am wondering what an escort bar is over there? here in the US, "escort" means prostitute...is this girl a prostitute?"

Try google!

Seriously though, what real business concerns have they got? Licks was an anniversary celebration tied up with a greatest hits launch so very important. I'm sure replacing Ronnie was used more as a threat. A new albums doubtful (Ronnie was hardly used on ABcool smiley and a lengthy tour is not top of the list for a while if ever...

It was widely known that George Thorogood was on tap to replace Ronnie for the Tattoo You tour. And it was let known why.

That was in national media.

There was nothing of that sort for Licks. Whatever was discussed here is the same as discussing AC/DC's title for their new record.

The 'proof' I was looking for was something concrete - a name of who would replace Ronnie on such short notice. That's such a convenient thing to go off and talk about some rag in London. How daft of me to say such a thing - if it's just talk, then what talk is it? Sounds like trite bullshit to me. The DVD shows Ronnie talking about his ordeals. Yeah, I figure as much that Mick wouldn't say Ronnie was almost out. But you know Keith would. Cuddly wuddly or not. Ronnie had a time line to clean up and he did it.

I would think that the possibility of being tossed out of the band would be a sobering experience enough. And one to stay sober for.

Obviously not. Besides, I don't think my doubt lends towards having my head examined or being stupid. I'm just not talking bullshit and coming from a place of knowing it all. They would say why he would get replaced because it would be asked over and over and over. If it's the truth then it can't denied.

But since I'm so stupid I will just have to get smart huh there Logie, you genius devil you.

Yes, we would all like absolute proof for chrissakes, but it isn't always there in plain old black and white. In fact, very little is these days.

But hell, nobody here is trying to hang Ronnie or have him replaced. On the contrary. We're playing speculative 'what-if' games (for fun) using what could arguably be speculative gossip that may or may not be wrong. Who the @#$%& really knows, or even has a right to know?

And for that matter, who really knows whether Ronnie has been drinking two bottles of vodka a day? The local off-license perhaps?

...and outside of this message board, who really bothers their arse to even care?

Re: Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie

That's just it. How true is this crap? And if it is, then what? And so what? Nothing any of us can do about it. As far as I know. So, in most cases, it's just talk. And we know Keith's album.

Some people come off as wanting to hang Ronnie with their bullshit Mick Taylor garbage. But then they say they're just being funny.

I don't find it funny.

Timing is everything. There's a significant difference in the need to replace someone if they become 'incapacitated' at a time when the band isnt active and if it happens at a time when the planning stages for a tour are at an advanced stage, contracts have been signed and sponsors have been obtained.

At the minute, if, God forbid, anything was to happen to Ronnie, I think they'd disband. As they should. If it was at a stage when they were about to go on the road, I think they'd go ahead with a replacement. Even though deep down, I'd like to believe that they wouldnt.

I always thought Thorogood was great. Prided myself on being about the first one outta my friends(in Texas) to realize what a rockin stompin talent he is but I NEVER heard about him being slated to replace Ron until a small mention of it years later in some periodical. It doesnt make any sense unless the Stones were gonna play nothin but pre 1966 material! As great a blues and slide guitarist Thorogood is he doesnt have the ability to play the leads on many Stones songs we love.IMO.

I can recall Thorogood being one of the support acts for the Stones at Roundhay Park, Leeds back in 1982, and putting in an awesome performance.

Thorogood still puts on a good show. Saw him at Summerfest (Milw) last year.
But let's get real...it's not gonna happen.

Just to clarify......not only is it not going to happen..I don't
want it to happen.

hmmm.....of course the "whiskey dick" scenario crossed my mind but
then I remembered that there are a few other options. But out
of respect for you all..I won't mention the 3 dozen (or so) that
come to mind. winking smiley And there's probably a few Russian techniques
of which I am unaware.

What could they do with 2 empty vodka bottles? eye popping smiley

Is the photo of them actually together, or is it two separate pictures? I didn't see it the online version.

Thanks!

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

There was a PPV show where Lonesome George got in the tuning room and if I remember the vibe he got from KR, I doubt they'd be stage partners.

Re: Ronnie Ronnie Ronnie

All Ronnie does is play cover tunes anyway. He is probally sick of the Taylor comparisons and all he really ever gets to play is Jones/Taylor tunes. In fact, out of the 18 or 19 song setlist that they play now how many songs has he actually recorded with them? The 1970's and 80's were a different time where he got to shine. The 1990's and 2000's he goes through the motions. He has served his purpose and needs to go his own way! For the hippie gypsy that he is...Rock and ROLL Mr. Wood!!!

Charlie Parker, William Faulkner, Scott Fitzgerald, William Burroughs, Billie Holiday (f'rinstance), more losers who couldn't accomplish a midlife crisis since they never grew up either.
