You can see his eyes pay close attention to the teleprompter during "Little T&A" during Austin on the Biggest Bang DVD set.

I´d prefer if they fvck up the lyrics and concentrate on the
playing instead of reading, and then @#$%& up the lyrics
and the riffs. grinning smiley

Before the 2006 show in Paris I was in the fourth row in front of the stage. A guy from their team was walking the stage and was fixing big paper sheets on the ground of the stage. I could see on one that inscriptions was written on (in big letters).

It was sentences in french for Mick, to use when he speaks to the audience.

My wife was with me, it was her first rock'n roll show... she said "the myth is destroyed". Personnaly I don't mind.. I think it is normal to prepare things like that in case of.. their shows are very great, but they are very well prepared. That's ok for me.

I used to think it was silly. But add up the amount of tunes...the screw ups are funny but if it makes one feel like he can't do the song then by all means, having a teleprompter is good to keep one on track.

Hey if it gives Mick a little more confidence for those rare newer songs...then fine--keep the teleprompter! I gots no issues with it. In a way, the presence of a teleprompter may have helped (with the help of Chuck) in giving us those rare sogns in the past tours: "CYHMK" and "Sway" to name a few...

Mick uses it but Keith obviously did not during Happy in Paris 2007!

wasn't it the 25x5 video where Mick says something like "people say"how do you remember the words to all those songs". Well I wrote them, so I don't have to remember them".

On a funnier note, I seem to recall reading that when Ian Gillan became singer for Black Sabbath, he hadn't learned the lyrics before the first gig. They had monitors displaying the words on the stage at ground level which was fine at rehearsal, but they forgot about all the dry ice for the stage show. Apparently old gillan was on his knees at the front of the stage trying to blow the dry ice out the way of the screen during the first songs.

Didn't CBS set one up for Stevie Wonder when he did the KEnnedy Center Honors?

moral being, don't waste money taking the wife to shows, plenty of other options to munch on

You can either criticise the band for not re-learning or rehearsing material properly...or you can respect them for chasing the fun adventure of going on stage and winging it through the various, shall we say, less well rehearsed songs in the catalogue.
I tend to waver between these two viewpoints if I'm honest.

On the whole I must say that I wouldn't like a gaff free tighter sounding Rolling Stones... perfectly rehearsed and repetatively note perfect on every song. That's not what they've always been about.

i worked as an usher, on sundays, at the kennedy center for fifteen years. the honors gala was always the highlight of the year. i can tell you with certainty that stevie wonder did not use a telepromtper.

Both use it and Keith often uses it, obviously also on his standard songs like Happy. They're pretty complicated lyrics, you try singing them from the top of your head after a dozen screwdrivers.

Let´s just hope that he doesn´t need it for his "it´s good to be here" phrase...

Mick used one for Sway? Too bad he didn't sing it worth a shit.

As a part-time singer in a geezer band, I can attest that it's hard to sing well when one is reading off a cue sheet of any sort. Reading gets in the way of the expression and disrupts my concentration.

We all know Stevie didn't use the teleprompter - Roy Orbison could even see that. Trainarollin's point is How fu*cking stoopid is CBS????!!!!

I saw Lucinda Williams once where she used an old-fashioned music stand during the show for the new songs!

Not sure if they had words or music or both, but that's the first time I'd ever seen that!

If this is so, and Keith can't even remenber the lyrics to a song that he wrote and has been playing for the last 25 years.
l don't think we should expect much reality in his upcoming "Memoirs"
Basically Keith is toasted..

Austin 2006; that's the 12th performance of T&A since July 1982
