awesome bass...iffin u don't know how to doos it, he shows you how to walka de dawg...
they are still quite the dirty boys here. yeh mick looks like too many black beauties and too many cigarettes...almost skeletal...harrowed even...even at this early age...well it takes what it took rock on...
(skelton featured the earliest Stones for 3 or more numbers on his popular show, with little bits of generational pantomime somewhat interacting with them...on HIS popular show was probably good for the band and incredible national exposure on a hit show.
he was certainly one of america's grandest, warmest-hearted circus clowns and early comedic film stars long before having his own prime time show. he was respected by everyone from chaplin to gleason and by a huge public.
they were treated considerably more respectfully here with Red than the quick, but historic, shot they got on Dean Martin's show. dean is
always ultra cool, be it city slick or in a western, but it took Red to give birth to Clem Kadiddlehopper, did it not me droogies?
Was this their first time over? They did a first short tour in the states in 64 & K has often been quoted as saying it was a hard first effort in getting proper notice...
... and then exploded with their next arrival, is this correct history?
was TV done on their first states visit? is this from the first or second time over?
If so, when did they come back to america and approx. how long were those first tour trips to n. america?
what was the nature and general frequency (kenneth) of their TV spots on those first n. american visits?
i know there's a link with specifics of all this somewhere (which would be appreciated) but anyone know offhand?
tanx
boy it's a gracious wonder we have that TAMI footage (from second visit in '64?)
to actually have good footage and sound on the band in concert that early on...whoo hoo and a half...
