Rolling Stones Offer Up 'Shine a Light' Soundtrack For Free Online

'Shine a Light' brings together Martin Scorsese and The Rolling Stones, two of the biggest names in film and music, for a new concert film shot at New York's Beacon Theatre. The band is releasing the concert's full soundtrack on imeem, an online music sharing community, a week before the album hits stores.

Filming concerts isn't a new arena for Scorsese -- he filmed the legendary concert 'The Last Waltz' back in 1978 featuring The Band, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, and countless others. Special guests Buddy Guy, Jack White and Christina Aguilera join the Stones in this concert film, and you can catch the trailer here.

Check out the soundtrack at imeem. You can listen to 30 second clips of each track, and registering with the site gives you access to the full live album.

Thanks open-g

Yes i can confirm just register which is 30 secs and put your headphones on sounds great and all 16 tracks inc band intro's, the download links though take you to amazon and itunes and the itunes link actually takes you to the original album. That is all down the line takes you to exile on main street on itunes

yep...saw this imeem thing earlier in the week. i didn't follow through.
I assumed it was all legit & authorized etc...but then when i saw the
thread about illegal downloads of official releases...wasn't sure.

from what i gather...you sign up for imeem...and it links you to the
SAL album on iTunes....???...and allows you to download for free?
Is it the single disk version or double disk? Any catches? Do you
get bombarded with IMEEM spam for the rest of your life?

I think I'll just buy the 2 disk set at BEst Buy...$11.99
(plus $3 off coupon for the SAL movie)

I still haven't figured out why anyone would pay for mp3-quality sound.

to some people quality is not as important as convenience.
back when i started collecting music, i invested in a very high
quality system with not regrets. i valued my record/cd collection
and loved listening to it on a great sound system....still do.

these days convenient downloads are more than adequate for most...especially
if they 'll be hooked on something completely different a few weeks later.

For the most part I still buy the actual disk. If I copy a disk, I copy
it in AIFF format (lossless I think)....when I buy mp3s from iTunes..they
tend to be individual songs (not complete albums).

Not sure about the "rest of your life", but I already got my first emails from people who want to be my friend
