I'm not familiar with their history, is it some new incarnation of the band? How are they now?

That's interesting. Surely it can't be the original band. I think Steve Harley went solo in that late 70s didn't he?

They will support the Stones in St Petersburg as well

I'm ditching the supports in Warsaw, I truly don't give a damn....

And Germany and Switzerland get Dandy Warhols and Amy Winehouse;/ <jealous>

Steve had some great songs: Mr Raffles, Love's A Primadonna & of course Come Up & See Me. I'd see him if I had a chance.

Just perfect. I am a big fan of them. Saw them live ages ago, got their records. I will be there for sure. For the warmup as well.

Sebastian was thefirst single of them. It did not hit the top ten, but hat a style which was totally different to what we have heart before.
Mr Raffles and Come and see me have been top ten hits.

so is this instead of the previously-announced warm-up, or in addition to it?

I'm a fan of them, and have been since 1975. "Come up and see me - Make Me Smile", "Judy Teen" are probably their best known songs. This is great news.

I think the guy (band) is one of the legendary acts but not popular anymore. Maybe even not extremely popular in the hey day. But if they put on a good show then I'm up for it.

Why can't van morrison open for the stones in his native country, even the corrs would work. Well present situation is a good excuse for me to arrive late and not have to stand for 8 to 9 hours.

I wish they would play in Düsseldorf as well instead of AW.
I'm a big fan since the 70's when Sebastian was one of the
highlights on every party. Only one red light on and then
this song, really loud. I guess I got my first kiss during
the song. Also Make Me Smile is one of the few songs I can
hear every day without getting bored.

hey what a surprise for me in the states!!!
good for him...
they were really something!! they were never big here but a friend of mine in Danish band called Sensory System in the '70's turned me on to them when visiting me in the states...and he instantly became a distinct favorite...
what a surprise...hmmmm, very interesting...i hadn't even heard the name in twenty five years....cool.

(my friend was lead singer for 'sensory system'; they never made it big or anything (he was the only yank but has lived his entire adult life in denmark and his wife and family are Danes...) they had a 'deal' and some records, and would warm up for biggies like the Kinks and such...on this same visit btw, we hit the msg for first show in '75; my first ronnie show with the stones...(and one of ronnie's first too!)
(at least that night, nowhere as good as ronnie with faces at fillmore east imo)

want to hear what's steve harley is up to and i'm gonna try to fish for some samples now...ty for the thread.

Lincoln Anderson - Bass (since 1998)
James Lascelles - Keyboards and percussion (since 1999)

Barry Wickens - Violin and Guitar (since 1980's)

I was working really hard to make it for the warm-up in Warsaw, as Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel was one of my favorites ages ago. I did even see them live in Oslo on a small stage, great live act. Strange thing was they played mostly new stuff, or at least stuff I did not know. A good sign of integrity, like Robert Plant, don't just play Led Zep stuff. By the time they hit St Peterburg I will get used to their songs. And they sounded great by the way. It's just that I expected all their great songs. I guess that is how the normal fans feel when the Stones play songs from A Bigger Bang...

Hey, could anyone post Cockney's setlist, please? I enjoyed their show very much but I didn't recognize all songs. Thanks.
