Van Morrison warmt Werchter op voor de Stones
di 05/06/07 - Op de festivalwei van Werchter zijn circa 30.000 mensen samengestroomd voor het concert van The Rolling Stones. Maar eerst kregen ze Van Morrison te horen, die uitpakte met enkele van zijn grootste hits.
Mick Jagger en co. geven vanavond in Werchter de aftrap van hun tweede "A bigger bang"-tournee. Het wordt het zevende en misschien wel laatste concert van The Rolling Stones in België. (AP) Op de wegen naar het concertterrein was het vanmiddag filerijden.

Enkele vroege vogels zaten toen al op terrasjes in de omgeving van Werchter. "Een soort schoolreisje", noemden enkele Nederlandse Stonesfans het concert.

Vanmiddag hebben de Stones uitgebreid gesoundcheckt. De groep is al een week in het land om zich voor te bereiden.

De voorverkoop voor het concert in Werchter was geen succes. Maar de organisatoren hopen dat door het mooie weer toch circa 30.000 fans komen opdagen.

Om 20u gaf "special guest" Van Morrison de aftrap van het concert. De Noord-Ierse zanger-muzikant en generatiegenoot van de Stones, speelde hits als "Moondance", "Brown eyed girl" en als afsluiter zijn grootste hit "Gloria".

The Rolling Stones treden pas op rond 22u.
