yep

not even remotely close to being one. gets played at barely a third of the shows. A minor US single and not released as a single in Europe.

agreed, but hard to complain about ANY song being played from the album theyre touring behind
> 4. Rocks Off - WAR HORSE (sort of)
Absolutely no way. Its not even on 40 licks, gets left out of the show FAR more often than it gets played. How is it 'sort of' a warhorse?

How do you know? Where you there? Its always sounded good enough any time I've heard it
> 6. Some Girls –Good but done a gazillion times during No Security
wrong on so many levels. Firstly, this tour is in Europe and not the US. First played on the No security US leg in '99, then 3 times on the Euro leg that followed (Stuttgart, Imst, and Shepherds Bush) and the only performance since then was at the 2nd Beacon show in November. Played a gazillion times? Er...38 prior to last night actually. Three of them in Europe, I would think its safe to assume that at least 99% of that crowd last night had never seen this song played before. Why should they consider it overplayed because it was played regularly on a tour they didnt attend in another continent 8 years ago?

Just 'Good' ? First performance EVER outside the US and only about the 7th airing since 1981.

60 actually. Which is barely half the shows on that tour. Also, it WASNT played when they played Belgium on that tour, which is a more significant statistic than the fact that it was played in New York, LA, London and a few other places that you or I may have been at or own bootlegs from.

yep

Why the question mark? Its a world premiere?
> --- Introductions
> 11. I Wanna Hold You (Keith) – So so
First performance in 9 years, actually
> 12. Slipping Away (Keith) –where is the “rocker”?
see "11". Whats the fascination with the 'rocker' anyway? He hasnt written one that hes sang on since 1989. If you want a rocker, it'll be one of Connection, Before they make me run, T&A, cant be seen or Happy. At least a couple of those have been played a helluva lot.
> 13. It's Only Rock'n Roll (to B-stage) –WAR HORSE
yep...but in fairness a novel approach playing it in this slot. Dont tell me you think that dropping Miss You is a bad thing!
> 14. It's All Over Now (B-stage) -OK
Just OK? Be serious. First time its been played in 12 years. Aside from being a semi regular on Voodoo Lounge, its barely been played in 40 years.
> 15. Satisfaction (B-stage) WAR HORSE
> 16. Honky Tonk Women (to main stage) WAR HORSE
Agreed on both, HTW in that 'last b-stage' slot has become a bit tired
> 17. Paint It Black –WAR HORSE
Nope. Played at barely half of the shows on this tour (if that). A hit that everyone knows, but apart from 1989-90 tour its never been in the set regularly since the mid 60s, so its hardly overplayed
> 18. Jumping Jack Flash WAR HORSE
> 19. Brown Sugar –WAR HORSE
> 20. Sympathy For The Devil (encore) WAR HORSE
agreed on those, but SFTD as last song is at least a bit different
Strange definition of warhorses (or semi warhorses) to support your argument. theres maybe about ten old songs that get played 90-100% of the time, so would fall into that category in my book - Satisfaction, JJF, SFTD, HTW, Brown sugar, YCAGWYW, Tumbling Dice, IORR, Miss You and Start Me Up. There arent any others that get played THAT often.
Ten songs is half the show, which I'd agree is too many, but two of those got the 'hook' last night, so thats surely a small step in the right direction. I'd prefer to see another two or three get the chop from my own perspective, but its a bit unrealistic. 8 out of 20 songs last night were what I'd call warhorses - 40% - The 12 songs that appeared in the rest of the show you couldnt have predicted with 80-90% certainty had you not been privy to what was being rehearsed.
"Tumbling Dice" excepted, that run of songs from #5 to #11 last night was one surprise after another.
