Brand New Stones Rarity on Hot Stuff!

Everybody needs to go over to the STONES RARE thread on HOT STUFF and have a listen to the one-minute outtake on there. @#$%& amazing we get this in the same week that Terry unearths "Key to the Highway." This is not a soundalike, this is the real deal. It sounds like older Stones trying to recapture their sound of the early 70s and reminds me of "Fiji Jim." I really wonder if this isn't the reworked "Fiji Jim" from the early 90's. Whatever it is, everybody needs to hear this!

doesnt sound anything like Fiji Jim to me, Rocky....

sounds like a breif clip of a song theyre working on which doesnt have a proper lyric, so its just a 'dummy vocal' with made up lyrics.

Agree with Baboon Bro.
Sounds like a rather standard Stones rock n'roll song...
But a cool find, haven't heard it before.

Would be interesting, anyway, to hear if it got more flesh on it?

Just listened to that one, typical Ian MacLagan playing there, almost have the same sound as the Woodstock 78 rehearsals

Well, we haven't heard it in its entirerty
and only in crappy compressed You Tube sound taken from the speakers with a microphone.
Plus - it's never been heared before (at least me)

so - thats more than enough to get excited........

Nuthin' wrong with being excited.. I should now excited grinning smiley
... Just that I thought this was on top of anything...

I miss the roll on ABB; hope we hear them rediscover funky funk
& rootsy roots and the good grrroovesome grrrooove this summer...

So, seen in that perspective I more than understand yer excitement...

Somehow it's not that exciting with a snippet of a rehearsal...or a rough take at least, compared to the 2 new Chess songs that just came up
What's interesting, is the existance of that piece of vinyl; is there any more out there?

Erik, 2 new Chess songs that just came up? I guess I need to catchup on my 'Hot Stuff'. I love this little ditty! Sounds like it could be an early version of Where The Boys All Go...

It sounds like a tracks from the RCA sessions in late August 1978, the ones that yielded Tallahassee Lassie, Summer Romance and a few more. It sure is Ian McLagan on the wurli.

Those two RCA tracks are very interesting. I can see why Mercy Mercy was left at the cutting floor but Keys to the Highway is a great little tune. Every time I hear it I think of Keith's version which has those backing echo vocals and lots of piano. Very cool to hear them doing these tunes. =)

Now I just wanna get hold of more of these unearthed outtakes! My addiction can never be appeased!

Yes, it's closer to those sessions than Woodstock reh. It also has the same "unfinished and rough" feel to it. I don't think this is an acetate, but merely a "very limited bootleg"

I am not completely sure (may His Majesty knows) but I don't think acetates were made that late in the '70's, I think they used cassette tape, and the brilliant 8 track tapes from around '76.
