Just listening again to the Satanic box, what a great set to listen to! You truly hear the band at work here, and you can really hear the songs develope. I was never so aware that this album was a total Keith/Jones/Hopkins album.

a question on the sounds: the guitar sound on the outtakes of 2000 Man is breathtaking. any idea about the amp? Is this the Vox solid state amps?

Yup, either the solid state Conqueror(30 watt) or Supreme(100 watt). They both have the same preamp, just different power sections.

Both box sets are chock full of the great sounds those amps can give out!

It's just my les paul custom in to the amp's normal channel. bass and treble at 10, volume at 10 for some of the clips... I did use the MRB on the beatleqsue tune.

The problem for me is the normal channel on the bass amp doesn't have top boost like the guitar versions, so I guess it's the missing link for the SFTD lead tone OR, Keith used the brilliant channel.

I have had someone make me a pedal version of the brilliant channel and I called it the Magical Mystery Box hah!



I've yet to get it, but I'll post some clips when I do.

I bought the amp head from ebay.de(the best deals are on there) for just over £200. Whenever they appear on ebay.co.uk they sell for far more, so I asked nicely for the guy in germany to post it to scotland.

If you find one, make sure it's made by Jennings Musical Industries(JMI) 1966-67 or Vox Sound Equipment(VSE) 1968-69 the later ones Vox Sound Limited(VSL) 1969 - about 1972 are supposed to be inferior.

What program do you work in? If you use protools, it's easier for me to send you the bass track as a stand alone track. I have time tomorow to work on it btw.
