would you go and see ZZ-Top for free?
well, you could...

If it doesn't interfer with my Stones schedule I think I'll do that.

Stones in Paris on Saturday 16th of June ---------->
ZZ Top in Potsdam (next to Berlin) on Sunday 17th of June

Free concert? Is it free beards on the house?

NOW - there is one band who came from being very small to becoming very big - to becoming even smaller (but almost better) - WOW! I think Paris is on!

Haha, free beards - I guess I'll have one after Frankfurt - Paris - Potsdam.

seems to be the only free gig of them
15.06. Leipzig - Völkerschlachtdenkmal
17.06. Potsdam - Im neuen Lustgarten
25.06. München - Tollwood
27.06. Erfurt - Thüringenhalle
28.06. Gelsenkirchen - Amphitheater
29.06. Bonn - Museumsplatz

Why do you think this is for free open-g??

Never find a word that says "free" - only see "Stadtwerkefestival".

Your from potsdam and know this Stadtwerkefestival??

>>Why do you think this is for free open-g?? <<

Well, yes - I didn't read it aswell, but our bassplayer told me that the "Stadtwerkefestival" has been doing this for the last 7 years - free concerts, that is.
Last year he saw Procol Harum there for free. He didn't realize it was them, until they played "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" haha.

so - I'm half assuming, but I'll keep you informed.

no way I would want to verar**hen.... you.

here's last years festival program

Peter Maffay was for free as well

OOOps

ZZTop deserves to be at the same level like Peter Maffay *lol*
Nothing to say against recording stuff from ZZTOP. But f**king bastards live: saw them something about Mid 80's I Think: played 41 Min. without any fun and leave the stage. I ignored every germantour since then.
Friend of mine made the mistake against my warning to go last year to see them:
it happend exactly the same!

You know the 40 Min.-rule in music-business: If a group stops after 40 Min. they hold the money in hand. Playing only up to 40 they'll have to give back the entrancefee...

Anyone's here who where with me at cologne 1981 - when we throw Peter Maffay with tomatoes from RS-Stage ?????

Well, last years festival line up must have been totaly boring - so maybe the promotors are spending a bit more cash on this years event.
I'd prefer 40 min. of ZZ Top over 2 hours of P.Maffay anyday - yuck, lol.

...and yes, I saw Maffay before the Stones in Frankfurt, errm - that was '82, btw.
absolutely disgusting, he was.

Sure, I like 'em.

Remember, when Johnny Carson asked Hendrix if there were any guitar players he admired, he relied, "There's a guy in Texas named Billy Gibbons".

Good enough for Jimi, good enough for me.

Do you remember that, Elmo?
did you see it?

I'm asking 'cause I found this:

The most important question here is, of course, whether Hendrix ever actually appeared on the "Tonight Show." He did, once, on 10 July 1969, performing the song "Lover Man" (which he dedicated to Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, who had drowned a week earlier). It's likely not possible to determine exactly what transpired on that show, as nearly all the tapes of the "Tonight Show" made before the program's move to Los Angeles in 1972 have long since been destroyed, but Rolling Stone did report on Hendrix's "Tonight Show" appearance and said nothing about any "world's greatest guitarist" question or answer (nor could Johnny Carson have put any question to Hendrix, as a guest host was filling in for him that evening):

Maybe to late in the night for me open-g, changing the date *blame on me*

Didn't notice in those gone days that PM opened Frankfurt too. World was very much smaller that days... I thought Cologne was the first gig and Fritze Rau recognized his mistake and tried out only once.
You people in Frankfurt throw this German-Star *har, har* from Stage with the same consequense we showed in cologne??

Inside the "Rancho Texicano" CD, it mentions the band opened 4 shows for Jimi back in the day. No mention of the legendary Carson episode.

X-actly, especially when it's a free concert.

I saw ZZ Top at the Hammersmith Apollo in London a few years ago and they certainly played over an hour and were awesome. The only bum notes were you could tell it was all carved in stone setlist wise and little sponteneity BUT hell those guys can stew up some filthy, groovy licks.
