They finished with "Midnight Special". I have a couple more pix..sent them to my e-mail but they havent arrived. Will hopefully upload them later and post the setlist if I get it. Ronnie's appearance seemed to be for about 40 minutes or so.

I'd always thought that "bringing the house down" was a figure of speech, but Art's tribute concert tonight did just that - or at least a good bit of the ceiling of the Clarendon Hall stage!

During Hogg's set (Jesse Wood & John Hogg's band, and very good they were too) in the middle of their performance of I Can't Explain, a tea-tray-sized chunk of plaster shook loose and crashed onto the stage in a mighty cloud of dust... Hogg finished the number without batting an eyelid, and all went without a hitch until an even heavier dollop of plaster hit the stage about half an hour later narrowly missing Kenney Jones.

At this point the Health and Safety police intervened, and the curtains were closed for ten minutes while any remaining loose bits of ceiling were removed - and then the Art Wood All-Stars brought the house down in the usual sense.

Ronnie played from around 10.10 pm until the finale ("Midnight Special") which ended at 10.55.

He sang with Ali McKenzie, but didnt do any solo singing. Apparently, when Kenny Jones and his 'gang' were playing, some plaster from the ceiling fell in and the gig was halted for about ten minutes whilst the structure was checked before it got the all-clear!!!

Thanks to Adrian-L for the pics and text messages.

It was a brilliant evening, we've just got home. 5 hours of entertainment, pretty good value and all for a good cause.

Went to the Ladies in the interval, husband and teenage Stargroves went outside for some fresh air. When I joined them, I had missed all the fun - Ronnie had arrived, signed an autograph for the teenage Stargroves and gone inside - and I missed him. Never mind, it was a great evening

If it wasn't for this message board I would never have known about this or thought to go along - thanks!! smiling smiley

Sorry, photos not as clear as others already posted

Just got home a little while ago. Absolutely BRILLIANT evening of music. £17.50 for over five hours of top draw rock 'n' roll. Ronnie was in great form, played a great solo, was having a lot of fun onstage. So many great bands playing. I'll write more tomorrow probably...

It was one of those nights where you wished all your friends / fellow music fans were there, cos it was just so good...

As reported elsewhere on this thread, it was a fantastic evening of great music (not subdued, by any stretch of the imagination)
and the perfect send-off for Dear Old Art.

Got quite hairy, on a couple of occasions, when the ceiling started to collapse, (Jesse Wood laughed it off) and Kenney Jones took a swig from his can of Fosters, and belted out another great drum solo.
...it was one of those unforgettable nights, that the whole IORR community would have enjoyed.

good to see you Crawdaddy (as it was, Pauly, Beast, Mr Jimmy, MOWAT, Greenlady
and anyone else i've forgotten!)
- hope you all enjoyed it as much as i did!

anyone hang around post-show and sneak into the party?

Re: Ronnie guest appearance at Art Wood tribute tonight

A wonderful evening of music, all 5 hours of it (thats two and a half Stones shows!) - didn't sneak into the party but did see Ronnie walking to his waiting Mercedes as myself, BarRoomQueen, Mr Jimmy and LondonStone left the venue.

As for the setlist....numbers included :

Hot Legs (Rod)
Not Fade Away (RS)
All The Young Dudes (Mott The Hoople)
Dedicated Follower of Fashion (Kinks)
Rock 'n' Roll (Led Zep)

and many, many more R'n'B classics!
