well, the other 3 tunes on that page are real and unreleased/rare. very warbly cassette boot for this one, listed as muscle shoals at the right time. i know what you mean though; the keef lead is pretty noodly for him, and well into it the rhythm guitar pauses here and there like trying to figure out the next chord, which you might think as MJ but wouldn't expect from gram.

i like the kr version of cocaine and the early version of shine a light though! never heard those before.

Ok, look, My topic is legit. If you have a problem with a screen name, tough shit. You don't know anything about it. Were you there? lets' leave it at that.

where on the page do you see that, please and thank you? i just woke up, and i'm trying to figure out
when the Stones were at Muscle Shoals except in december 69, and/or what sources say that Gram was there then.
meanwhile it doesn't sound like Keith to me.

Could you change your nick, MH? It's quite tasteless and actually brings up a lot of bad memories. Besides, as creative as you seem, you can come up with a new name - Like Rachel Hunter (Rod's ex...)

You probably understand why your choice of nick name is a problem for many of us. If you don't, it's called respect for the dead and decency.

Boy that Meredith's a real cut up!...

...er....he's a stitch....er...damn, no!

....He slays me!....er.....he kills me!

....Er....Sometimes I could just kill him!

I see it as a tribute.

Actually, he was carrying a gun (MH). And moving towards the stage. A tribute might be... no, I shall not take this any further. I think we should just let the man rest.

The MH name is pointless, unfunny, disrespectful and offensive so aint it worth changing?

Beginning to agree on the majority here.
If you "MH" want to honourthe unhappy Mr Hunter,
why not let it be shown more obvious in your nick?

with sssoul is correct - the only time the Stones were at Muscle Shoals was Dec 69 (between MSG and Altamont). Gram Parsons wasn't there. I believe apart from Altamont, they hadn't seen him since the tour rehearsals in October.

I'm a bit lost on why anyone calling themselves Meredith Hunter is so offensive to this board. Its not like the name isnt a valid one in Stones history. Would Brian Jones be an offensive screen name? John Lennon? It seems like the guy was trying to ask a legitimate question and got shouted down as if he were causing trouble. Would it be better if he changed it to either Meredith Brooks or Sonny Barger?

Why not Sonny Pruitt?

Would Sonny Bono be equally tasteless? What about Bono Vox? I believe a new game has been invented, Baboon Bro.

Getting back to the subject of this post, the overall consensus on this recording is that it's fake.

Should I change mine as Elmo Lewis was an early stage alias of Brian's?

I don't think Meredith's name is a big deal. Good question too. Some are a little too sensitive (including me sometimes).

The person who's myspace that is, is aware that it's Mick singing on Shine A Light?

Who are these arbiters of taste for God's sake? He is a fundamental part of Stones history/mythology. There is no obvious disrespect intended & even if there were I'd defend his right to use it (bear in mind, the guy did bring a loaded gun to the gig & brandish it for whatever reason) If the name Meredith Hunter is out of bounds then why not Brian Jones too as he was probably killed. Presumably anyone wanting to call themselves John F Kennedy or Robert Kennedy (the Dead Kennedys is one of the greatest band names ever!) or Malcolm X or Martin Luther King should be stopped. Why not submit names before an IORR board for approval before being allowed to post...

relax forligan.

by the way....a guy named Forligan killed my dog....you sick bastard smiling smiley

re: this thread...WILD HORSES...I'll give it a listen.

p.s. also strange that forligan is more worried that Meredith Hunter is dead instead of the fact that Meredith Hunter was the one supposedly shooting at the stage trying to kill his/her precious Stones.

1:38 of this Wild horses version are on "Sticky Fingers - The Alternate Album". The cover says "1969 rehearsal Keith & Mick Taylor".

Why is it a problem? Why do YOU find it to be a problem? Meredith Hunter is a part of Stones history and is as legit as someone using the name Phelge or Nanker or Mickboy. Unless you were a relative of Mr. Hunter I can't imagine you being offended. Even so, too bad. Meredith Hunter always sounded like some kind hoodlum to me.
Who the hell would go to a Stones concert in a lime green suit? Insane... he was looking for trouble. That wasn't acceptable attire in San Fran until a few years later.

I think it's a fake myself. It just sounds like someones made a crap recording and screwed with the pitch to make it more 'authentic' and also to hide the playing a bit.

The track originally surfaced on "Ultra Rare Trax Vol. 2" back in the early 90's. I don't know if anyone ever confirmed whether it was actually Gram playing on it, though.
