Don't know much about her. From what little there is about her out there, her real name was Melanie Susan Potier, and not Poitier. Born in Surrey, England in 1947...died in Portigual in 1979, after driving herself and husband, Hong Kong businessman Ben Ho, off of a cliff.

The only other thing I know about her was that she was supposed to have been in the car with Tara Guiness when he died. "...he blew his mind out in a car..." I think that was 67 or so, but I guess that was the accident that inspired that line from the song. Or so I've heard. Or so I've made up, not sure which.

I've kind of always wondered why she went to the Isle of Wight Festival with Keith. Not that I think anything was going on between the two. Maybe she was hanging out with Tony Sanchez.

Wow - great photos!!!! I didn't know he went to that festival with her, that is strange. It was just the two of them? The guy with the hat on her right side looks familiar. That's not Stash is it?

A group of them went, not just Keith and Suki...

Charlie, Michael Cooper, Tony Santchez etc were all there too.

btw, I suggested David Bailey over at rocks off. It matches a similar photo that appeared in one of his books.

Her name is spelled Poitier and this is from the new book on EXILE by Robert Greenfield which I'm reading now. Also from the book, the following ;" In the early morning hours of December 18, 1966, with Suki Poitier beside him, Tara Browne, thought to have been high on acid, drove through a traffic light in Redcliff Square in South Kensington. As he swerved to miss an oncoming car, Browne slammed into a parked lorry.His death served to inspire John Lennon to write " A Day In The Life" about a man who blew his mind out in a car because he hadn't noticed that the lights had changed.

I knew all that about Suki and Tara Browne.
I have seen her name spelled both ways in various different books. I'm going with Potier because I found her family tree while doing some research years ago. Bill Wyman spells it Potier, as does Ossie Clark, for whom she modelled for over the years. Bill was a stickler for details, so I trust his spelling of the name.

He was very busy being dead that day. However, the person in the photo wearing brown next to Keith is Suki. Brian had a thing for girls that looked like him, just like Mick.

keith's got the line at the bottom of his pants that indicate there was a former hem that was removed - either he got taller or inherited those pants...

Maybe they were Anita's. He often said he stole clothes from her. I wonder how tall she is, it looks like they were let down a good 3 inches. If she's about 5'6, then that's probably it.
