I follow you, Adrian! It's got too many elements. It looks like a tattoo. Simplify it. Concentrate on one element - or maximum 2. The simple solution is what reveals genious, right. And even thoug there are two guitarists in a band, plus a drummer and a singer (which is what we have in the Stones anno 2007), one doesn't have to show everything... Or the entire band history - in a T-shirt-design. But Ablett: You're talented. But you're making things too complicated for yourself. (and us)

Personally, I doubt that the history of the band has any relevance to the T-shirt. It is a possible theme, 'history'. But I would say it is a long stretch to make it THE theme for the 2007 IORR-shirt. ABB would make more sense, but there are more options.
For the faces: it's an IORR-shirt (since 1980) so I think it would be a good idea to stick to the current band, and if you would like, with Bill. But that already makes it fussy. I'd say: less is more, clear is better: 4 Stones do the trick.

A yellow logo on a black shirt...? ;-)
Personally I like navy/dark blue with silver/light grey lining...

Once you see final artwork you'll understand where I going with it. It aint gonna be complicated. Think the Wino's logo on the live CD. Create something that doesn't represent the band as a whole but a suggestion of its legacy.....
I want to create something that aint just gonna be warn at Gigs but all the time.
Anyway, I've mailed BV and he could simply pull the plug anytime......

Just like what you have only on the left side as well, crossed like swords. Maybe the other is Strat instead of a Tele (nominal difference appearancewise I think). I like the devil girl too. The whiskey bottle seems a tad predictable.
I LOVE it. It reminds me of my Expensive Winos shirts which I, ahem, "outgrew."
Ablett! It's too complicated. Think simplicity - not an impressive tattoo. This is something we'll wear for shows, not every day. I have the Wino-t-shirt. It's hard to identify unless you have the cd's. And the only ones I know who have the CDs are on this board, at Shidoobee or Blue Lena's... If you look at post number one - you'll understand what I'm talking about.
Once again ..I love the she-devil..but if the tongue is gonna give problems..the she d is gonna give trouble to..cause its from the offic..tour shirts.
Were you actually thinking of using just an outline of this drawing or having it colored in? The Wino's album cover looks cool, but unless you're up close, you can't really see what it is.
I had to get really close to the monitor to make out what I was looking at on the t-shirt photo you posted. I think if the purpose is to have a recognizable IORR shirt, then just and outline drawing, not colored in, does not stand out enough.
I think an outline of a drawing defeats the purpose. If someone can't tell what it is from 50 feet away then why bother? You can spot a RS tongue from far away, that's what we need - something like that.

Exactly, Cindy! And that's why we have to get a few other suggestions together. I'll ask my AD (I have an advertising agency) if she could make some suggestions. Relax - she's a singer/songwriter and she likes the Stones!
Ok, this is just an idea, if we're going to talk about costs of printing shirts, etc.
A very EASY/CHEAP way to do this would be if we can agree on a logo design, have the logo available on here for download.
At any arts/crafts store, you can buy for about $5.00 a box of special transfer paper that allows you to print out a picture and then iron it onto to fabric. I actually just made my son a Stones tongue t-shirt last week and it looks great.
That way there wouldn't be a need for ordering a large quantity of t-shirts, having to deal with mailing them out, finding someone to deal with the mailing of the shirts, etc.
If one buy a Stones Shirt at a show ..its not really cheap ...mind you...not that I buy those...bt A few bucks cant be the problem..one have to be rich these days to attend the shows!!..do we need a dictator or is this...going to be pretty beat up nice R&Rling chaos? always fun hell yeah!!
First off, Ablett, your willingness to undertake the design task is quite admirable, given the multitude of personalities/opinions of folks involved here. I like what you’ve come up with.
I have an idea, if BV would like to consider more than one idea. Unfortunately, I’m not an artist, so I’ll have to describe it.
Visualize a 2 x 2 grid (one section for each current member). We, as a community, can probably come up with one word, or object even (Keith's skull ring, lips for Mick, for example) that we collectively identify with each member. That’s what we would include in each section. Flowing left to right, across the middle of the grid would be a ribbon (similar to your current design) which reads something like iorr.com – since 1980.
I don’t envision having actual grid-lines, maybe a different background color for each section kinda fading towards the edges.
Just my 2 cents (or whatever your local currency is)

That's a really good idea. Hopefully we'll all be able to iron it on so it's not backwards. I hate when that happens.
thanks for the Tele! but it should have two pickups, not three (and the neck pickup should be a humbucker). if there's going to be a second guitar, a Gibson would be nice - a reverse Firebird or an LP would be authentic-like.
if we're still pondering using images of the band, i vote for the four current Stones. does anyone here own the rights to any photos/images that could be considered?
