Keith confirms it in the 1999 Chris Evans interview - it was indeed Fool to Cry,
in 76, but he doesn't specify which show.
Evans asks if the audience noticed and Keith says: "i don't know - i didn't ask them."

Better than that. In the middle of some lengthy sleepless binge he fell asleep in MID-STEP!,fell,bashed his nose on the TV and thought "F*ck this sleeping lark!".
That is the stuff of legend.

"I'll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon."

Im sure I remember him saying it was when he pressed his foot on the sound effect pedal. he just passed out. Who knows whether its true. It sounds like an urban myth. But then again Keith did say recently "I remember when showtime was when I woke up"

Keith probably rolls over and falls asleep immediately after sex.

yep..opening night of the tour on 28th April, during Fool to Cry..he said the feedback from his amp woke him up.

so he claims anyway. After all, hes probably the only one who knows. Could well be another tall tale like the 'Muddy Waters painting the goddamn ceiling at Chess' story...

He also said that the speaker he
fell on and bashed his nose was a JBL ....

I think the story is that he was so drunk he couldn't stand up, and finished the song lying on his back. Don't know if its true...

Yes and he said he slipped on a Frankfurter sausage and hit his nose on a speaker (to explain why his nose is so out of synch now...)

And Keith also said once: "If you believe that you'll believe anything..."

He did´nt fall asleep, but he was on his back, due to being drunk. This was during one of the two gigs in Göteborg 1982. Can´t remeber wich one, but I was there.

Bill Wyman doesnt seem to recall it happening. I think he did mention that Muddy was there when they arrived and helped them bring their gear in. Guess Keith just chose to embellish the story.

Marshall Chess - who would know these things - said that contrary to Keith's assertion there is no way that Chess would have asked or told Muddy Waters to do menial tasks like painting the studio because he wasnt selling records, nor would a proud man like Muddy even lower himself to agreeing to it.

He fell but he didnt break his nose until later didnt he? And he did actually have his blood cleaned in Swizerland, not changed perhaps, but cleaned.

Think we're getting our Keith stories interwoven here. Remember reading a review of the Frankfurt show and it seems he slipped and fell on his arse, not his face into a speaker.

I'd imagine that whack Chuck Berry gave him a few years later cant have done his nose much good either!
