I spoke with the Norwegian promotor in Bergen. "40 shows in Europe next summer! Where should they play?!" he asked. 25 minutes later, he came walking towards me with Michael Cohl - both smiling and looking very satisfied. Start planning and saving for the next Euro-shows!
Since they play 2 shows a week that would be 20 weeks. There's 4 weeks in a month (plus a few extra days) so that would be 5 months (4.5 if they really tightened it up)....doesn't add up.....
I just checked back on the beginning of 2006. 33 shows from 1/10/2006 to 4/18. If it had been 40 shows it easily could have hit 5/10/2006. That's 4 solid months for 40 shows. Won't fit in a short European Summer tour. They only have June to late August - tell Cole he's one month short.....

Prior to Keith's accident in April, they had 35 announced shows in Europe planned between May 27 and August 29th. It also seems that they were planning to add 1-2 additional shows in there like Belgrade in early July. To do 40 dates, it would really only have to run 1 week longer than what was planned for this summer, so 40 dates in just over 3 months is very realistic.

If they have any sense they'll plan it better this time. If youre doing an exclusively stadium tour in Europe, your options are seriously limited if you have to postpone any shows for any reason during the summer - as we've seen this year
If they combine stadium shows with indoor gigs it gives them some room to manouevre.
They'll struggle to sell 40 stadium shows at those prices again.
I think fans would like to see more intamate shows . They can still rock but they wouldn't be so exhausting for all the band members . Let the fans come to them . THEY WILL !!
6 shows @ The Orpheum in Boston , MA 12 shows @ MSG In NY ,NY etc .
When and How many concerts in SPAIN??? We deserve a SPECIAL treatment, ticket prices and other issues in my opinion, I know it has been unprevisible things, but Spain and Spanish Stones Fans deserve more attention.
Hopefully,Belgrade show will finally happen.I was lucky to be able to see them in London this year but most of the fans here didn't have such an opportunity.
Anyway,I'll be at one of the nest year's shows. That is for sure and it would certainly be cool if they did arena shows as well.

er..neither of those places are in Europe..lol
and at $450 a ticket, they wouldnt be able to fill more than a couple of MSG shows on one leg.

oh come on, boston's essentially a suburb of london . . .
They barely filled Amsterdam and Twickenham, and there were lots of empty sections for Paris. I can't imagine that they would be able to fill stadiums in those cities 12 months later.

I hope you are not serious about Paris. You should know that prior to Keith's accident, there were I SDF sold out at a pace never seen before in this city and the 2nd one 90 % at nearly 2 monthes from the venue date. As for the 28th of July, official sources said 89,000, others 80,000. Only one wrote about 70,000 without conviction ( Le Parisien ). Also, keep in mind that this date was the worst of the year calendar : all parisians were out for vacations and rushing to sea or mountain resorts. I would invite you to read report in " Rock & Folk". If you like, I can send you a xerox for free.
Who said anything about "exclusively stadium shows"??? I know I didn't. And MicksBrain - Michael Cohl's problems with the re-scheduling of this tour was due to Keit's accident, and the fact that the Stadiums were taken - like the Euro Athletes Championchips in Sweden, football in Spain, hotel rooms rented out elsewhere, long distances from Scandinavia to southern Europe, and the US leg of the tour... It was not due to incapability, just so you know it! I've written this several times - but it seems as though the conspiracy kings have already made up their minds about what's true and what's not... Not listening to reason is a bad sign for one's character. Not being willing to change one's mind when new facts are brought forward --- is often named stupidity. I shall not take such words into my mouth! You judge.

I was actually FOS in Paris, and seem to remember empty blocks in the second tier, but maybe I am remembering incorrectly. I was sick, so I don't remember much about that night.
Difference in climate is bigger in Europe than, correspondingly, within playable area in America. You can play February if ya like in Spain or Greece, March in Italy April in Former Yugoslavia. Hungary is perfect in early May, as is France, Southern Germany & Brno. No reason for playing Germany just once.
Göteborg's suitable for at least two gigs commercially.
The talk about September's beginning as unthinkable for playing Göteborg climat-wise was nonsense; as it turned out footboll (soccer) & Pirates- starring for Keith was the real reasons for the Göteborg cancellations.
September IS the time for playing Scandinavia! The temperature is still OK for being outdoors and the nights are DARK! We can actually see the fireworks!
Look at Bergen, it was wonderful, we even got "the drivin' rain"!!!
Oslo-Helsinki-St Petersburg- Göteborg (Sundsvall/Östersund*?) are waiting? What about the Roskilde Festival rumours? Not that I believe them myself.
* The latter would easily attract 30 000 Norwiegans and 50 000 Swedes, dont ya other Northlandic folks here believe so? Same amount of people in Sundsvall; if not even more.
Baboon Bro Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What about the Roskilde Festival rumours?
I haven't heard any Roskilde rumours, and I don't think they will ever play there. I hope they will finally get to do a show in Reykjavik, which has been on the rumoured list for the past couple of tours.
I dont either think there will be any Roskilde, but the rumour is heard here and there, about Roskilde 2007. I have no feelings for Reykjavik, just another adventure for rich folks. Fine if they will play there, but not on our expense. I think St Petersburg is way way more important, the Easterners have been waiting for rock'n'roll since Elvis.
Sooner time for Northern Norway, Sweden/Finland with a total amount of almost 2 million people to compare with Iceland, whose population aint bigger than Malmoes.
...Won't the Vikings stand behind a campaign for gigs in Östersund or Sundsvall?!
I don't think it's a question of replacing a St Petersburg show with one in Reykjavik. Both can happen. I doubt there would be any shows in Northern Sweden/Finland though.

Bad you were not in the show. Hope you've recovered by now.

uh...they played two shows at twickenham, both of them pretty much sell outs, to around 110,000 people. Pretty impressive considering some 140,000 saw them elsewhere in the UK too. London was the only city in Europe where they were able to sell TWO shows.
They'll have little problem filling Wembley Stadium in 2007 especially if theyre a) not playing a lot of other Uk stadium shows and b) because of the appeal of playing the newly opened stadium.

Doubt dwell here too. But what can a poor boy do? Another trip to Göteborg would otherwise be just fine.
