I am listening to an apparently popular beat combo who call themselves the Rolling Stones (never heard of them!) recorded in Los Angeles on 10th July 1975. Sounds rather good to my ears.

No youtube video to post, for a long time, I've listened to Sam Cooke, this almost should or could be an "OT" post but I'll say it here,
"Good Times" or as I think of it "Let the good times roll" (except there is another song called that "Come on Baby let the good times roll", which is to me, really in the mode of New Orleans Rock 'N' Roll< [www.youtube.com] >, many top acts or song writers, musicians hailed from there, a good one at that especially when the beat picks up) was by Sam Cooke. Okay, so Cooke was killed, sad, I have the book on him "You send me", Cooke was killed in December 1964. [www.dailymotion.com] (Rolling Stones version)
So to me, it appears a bit like a tribute to Sam Cooke and they do it very well. Summa this I didn't know of but I studied the older R 'N' R and I think some of it is the best.
What a tragedy.
Twistin' the night away, Chain Gang, a lot of big songs. Back on the Chaingang by the Pretenders would seem to obviously take cues from Sam Cooke's "Chain gang".

I am listening to the brand new Gaz Coombes album "Matador". Supergrass is one of my favorite groups of alltime; very underrated. GC is a very good sognwriter and producer. This album is so f&cking good. I think Mojo just gave it 5 stars; not that that matters all too much.
